Arrests:
7:29pm 2200 Blk San Jose Battery/Under the Influence
Officers
Van Zandt and Labson were dispatched to a battery call on the 2200 block of San
Jose Avenue. A family member told the officers that they had just arrived home
from a day of grocery shopping and were unloading their car, which was parked
out in front from their home. The son said he briefly observed a male suspect making
his way down the street walking in their direction. He said his mother stopped
and allowed the suspect to walk past her. The suspect then started yelling
slurs at her and then punched her in the face. The son quickly intervened and
told the suspect he was calling the police. The son followed from a safe
distance until Sgt. Ly arrived and took the suspect into custody. While in
custody, the officers noticed that the suspect was heavily intoxicated and was
being combative. The mother told the officers that she did not want to press
charges against the suspect. Due to the suspects high level of intoxication he
was taken to SFGH for treatment and released with a citation for resisting.
