Arrests:
2:28pm 5200
Blk. Diamond Heights Robbery
It was a dangerous situation for Ingleside Sgt Meehan while
he, and a patrol special officer grappled with an armed thief. Sgt. Meehan was alerted by a Safeway store
manager that a patrol special officer was struggling to control and arrest a
thief near one of the store’s entrances. Sgt. Meehan went to the area and found
both suspect and the officer on the ground fighting with each other. Sgt.
Meehan jumped into the fray and was able to finally place the thief in custody.
A large switch blade knife was found in one of the thief’s pockets. They also
found several items stolen from the store’s medicine aisle. The suspect was
taken to Ingleside Station and booked for robbery, resisting arrest, and
battery on a police officer. A computer check revealed the thief had several
outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Fremont, Palo Alto, and San
Leandro Police Department. Report number: 170187172

Blk. Geneva Air Gun, Narcotics
Ingleside Officers Archilla and Padilla were on routine patrol
when they spotted a man smoking a cigarette near the front of a store. As they
drove by, seeing the officers, the man suddenly took off and started walking
across the street and then westbound on Geneva. The officers stopped to talk to
the individual who was inside a local business. The officers asked the suspect
to step outside so they could talk to him. He refused and became combative. He
was finally placed in custody and a search of his clothing revealed a BB gun
with orange tip missing from the barrel. The orange tip is designed to alert
officers and others that this real looking weapon is a BB gun and not a real
firearm. Inside another pocket was a glass pipe and a quantity of
methamphetamine used with the pipe. The suspect was cited for the weapon and
for possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Report number: 170187257
