Arrests:
5:37pm Mission
& Persia
Evading
Ingleside Officers Hopkins and Campos were on patrol when
they spotted a silver/grey Nissan Altima make an illegal right turn, through a
red light from Geneva onto Southbound Mission. The officers activated their red
lights and siren and attempted to pull the car over near Mission and Russia.
Instead of stopping, the driver pulled back into traffic and sped northbound on
Mission Street with the officers in pursuit. At Mission and Persia, the Nissan
driver turned eastbound on Persia and sped through stop signs while driving on
the wrong side of the street. The officers terminated their pursuit in the
interest of public safety and broadcast a description of the Nissan. Moments
later, Ingleside Officers Trail spotted the Nissan in a parking lot on the 1900
block of Sunnydale Avenue. He along with other units attempted to apprehend the
four occupants of the vehicle, but instead, the occupants fled to the
surrounding neighborhood. The chase involving several Ingleside units ended
when the exhausted driver of the vehicle began to slow down and finally
collapsed in a grassy area near the unit block of Santos. He was placed in
custody then. The other three passengers were not apprehended. The officers
found beanies, gloves, hoodies, two cellphones, and other clothing inside the
Nissan. The driver was cited for resisting arrest and reckless driving and
released. The car was towed to impound while the officers unsuccessfully tried
to contact the Oakland owner of the vehicle. The vehicle may be related to a
Christmas night armed robbery in the Marina District. Report number: 161048337
