SFPD and Walgreens Kick Off 2016
Holiday Toy Drive
In
collaboration with Walgreens drugstores, the San Francisco Police Department
today launched its 2016 Holiday Toy Drive, benefitting the City’s children in
need.
From
November 18 to December 19, SFPD will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped
toys at more than 60 San Francisco Walgreens locations. The goal is to exceed
last year’s toy drive, in which approximately 2,500 items were donated at 30
Walgreens stores for distribution to San Francisco children.
“Everyone
can make a difference in a child’s life,” said Interim Police Chief Toney
Chaplin. “San Franciscans are generous, thoughtful people and we believe they
will step up to brighten the holidays for children and provide happy memories
for years to come. We thank Walgreens for doing their part again this year to
help San Francisco youth.”
Donors can purchase or drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any San
Francisco Walgreens that features a brightly colored and marked toy drive
collection bin. Those unable to drop off a toy may also contribute to a Go Fund
Me account (https://www.gofundme.com/sfpdtoydrive2016) established by the San
Francisco Police Foundation to purchase toys for underprivileged children this
holiday season.

Blk. Bayshore Stolen Vehicle
It was a rainy evening and traffic was light when Ingleside
Officers Shih and Dito noticed an older Isuzu Rodeo blow through a stop sign at
Somerset and San Bruno Avenue. The Isuzu had Iowa license plates attached over
another license plate. The officers stopped the vehicle which was occupied by a
male driver and two female passengers. The driver was unlicensed and the Iowa
plate belonged to a Pontiac and not an Isuzu. However, it was covering a
California plate that did belong to the Isuzu. A check of the plate revealed
the vehicle was stolen several days before in Los Angeles. Inside the vehicle
were construction tools belonging to the owner. The driver was arrested for
driving without a license and using a fraudulent license plate. He was also
listed as a “missing person” from South San Francisco. The Los Angeles owner of
the Isuzu said the women passengers were the thieves who stole his car. They
were booked for those charges and others related to the crime. Report number:
