districts to prevent and detect crime; respond to calls for assistance; conduct
criminal investigations; interact with the community to build cooperation and
support; pursue and arrest suspects; enforce traffic and parking laws; write
reports and maintain records; work with superiors, peers, and others as a team;

Arrests:
1:02pm Cortland/Bennington Stolen
Vehicle
Quick police work with officers from three different
police stations resulted in the arrest of a wanted auto thief. Ingleside Officers
Burke and Thompson were dispatched to take a stolen vehicle report. When they
arrived, the victim told the officers that his work truck was stolen from an
address near the Palace of Fine Arts. He had left it there to be towed because
it had broken down. While the tow truck driver was attaching the vehicle to the
tow truck, an unidentified man jumped into the victim’s truck and drove away.
Fortunately, the victim’s truck had a GPS transponder and he told the officers
that he was tracking the thief as he drove through the City. The truck finally
parked near the intersection of Fulton and Parson’s Street where Richmond
District Officer Macias found the truck and arrested the thief. The suspect was
booked for auto theft and for an outstanding warrant for a previous vehicle
theft. He was also charged with a narcotics violation after the officers found
a quantity of methamphetamine in his possession. Report number: 150801308
