Crime Alert: Two young men, a Caucasian 6 ft tall, dark brown hair 25-30
yrs old, the other a Latino man about 5’8", 25-30 yrs old are going door
to door ringing doorbells and saying they are with The Child Fund. They insist
on entering the homes to “do their presentation" and ask for $25 to $28.
They present a badge that says CCPM. If
they come to your door do not let them in or give them money. Call the police.
A Message from the Public Utilities Commission:
“A Call to Conserve Water”
We didn’t get enough rain or
snow this winter – plain and simple. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission
(SFPUC) is officially asking all customers to voluntarily reduce water use by
10%.
Conservation is easy; turn off
the faucet while brushing teeth or soaping hands; shorten shower time; install
water-efficient showerheads and faucet aerators; replace older toilets and
clothes washers with new water-efficient models; and, fix leaks. Please
visit sfwater.org/conservation for more information. The SFPUC offers an array of
conservation assistance including free water-saving devices, free Water-Wise
evaluations for homes, apartment buildings and businesses and rebates for
water-efficient toilets and clothes washers.

The San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team
(NERT) is free training from the San Francisco Fire Department in
how to help yourself and your neighbors prepare for and respond to a disaster
by working together. The 20-hour training, taught by First Responders, includes
personal preparedness, light search and rescue, disaster medicine, shutting off
your utilities, and how to participate as a member of a neighborhood response
team. NERT also offers continuing
training for graduates and activities that support building robust neighborhood

you!
What is the
A.L.E.R.T. Program?
The San Francisco Police Department has developed a
volunteer citizen disaster preparedness program. The Auxiliary Law Enforcement
Response Team (ALERT) is modeled after and works in partnership with the San
Francisco Fire Department's Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). The
ALERT program will train members of the public to assist law enforcement in
essential tasks after a major disaster. Such tasks may include: traffic
control, foot patrol of business and residential areas, and reporting criminal
activity. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and live, work, or attend
high school in San Francisco.
Three steps to becoming an
A.L.E.R.T. volunteer:
1. Complete NERT training and receive
certification. To register for NERT training courses please visit www.sfgov.org/sfnert
2. Once NERT certified, forward a copy
of your NERT ID card to the ALERT program. sfpdalert@sfov.org
3. After clearing a basic background
check the individual is eligible to register for ALERT training.
Heat
wave:
Many residents are leaving their windows and
doors open in an effort to keep cooler as the temperature increases during
these gorgeous sunny days. Be extra careful, especially when you leave your
home, paying attention to secure the windows and doors when you leave. Burglars
are always looking for the easiest way inside your home. Don’t give them the
opportunity for the easy access. Make sure to secure these entry points and
leave them locked when you are not around. A third of all the burglaries
committed in the Ingleside district during the month of April were due to open
garages and unlocked or open windows. Also, remember to keep hydrated with lots
of water!!
Muni Related Thefts/Robberies:
Commuters who take public transportation have been targeted by cell phone
thieves. In the last couple weeks there has been two incidents involving MUNI
related thefts and robberies here in the Ingleside District. In one of the
cases, witnesses told the officers at the scene that the suspect was watching
the victim as she focused only on her smart phone, paying no attention to her
surroundings. When the bus stopped, the suspect snatched the phone from her
hand and ran off the bus. If you’re not paying attention to your surroundings,
you’re wearing a target on your back. Smart phone owners need to be aware that
thieves may be watching you and ready to snatch your devices. The following is
some common advice to avoid becoming a victim: Always be aware of your
surroundings. If the bus is going to stop, stop what you are doing, look up,
look around and put your phone down or put it in your pocket. And when the bus
is in movement again you can go back to looking at it.

2:09pm 3700 Blk Mission Graffiti
Officer Seavey and Sgt. Alvarez were on routine patrol driving west on Richland Ave by Mission Street. Officer Seavey saw two males that look suspicious and noticed one of them “Tagging” a newspaper stand. When Officer Seavey was getting out of the car, the suspect tried to play it off and started walking down the street. Officer Seavey yelled “Police, Stop!” two times, and they ignored him and started to run in different directions. He tried to get away from the cops so he made a right onto Park Street not knowing that Sgt. Alvarez was already there and had him trapped. Officer Seavey told the suspect to put his hands behind his back and he refused. After a short struggle, Officer Seavey and Sgt Alvarez were able to get the suspect into custody. Other Officers showed up to the scene and were able to locate the second suspect. While at the scene, Officer Seavey found and seized the markers used to vandalize the newspaper stand. Moments later, a MUNI driver came up to the officers and told them that one of the suspects “tagged” his bus as well. Both subjects were charged accordingly. Report Number 140587784
10:32pm 3400 Blk Mission Drugs
While driving down the 3400 block of Mission Street, Officers Cabillo and Canning saw a male riding a bicycle down the sidewalk on Mission Street. When they stopped him, Officer Cabillo immediately recognized him from prior contacts. They discovered that he had three outstanding warrants. The officers placed him under arrest and conducted a search and found a glass pipe in his jacket pocket. Officer Canning also found a small amount of methamphetamine inside another pocket. The suspect didn’t want the Officers to take his bike so they asked an employee inside a store to hold it for him. They took the suspect to Ingleside Station and booked him for the outstanding warrants and narcotics. Report Number 140589348

Blk College Hot Prowl
Officer Adams responded to 430 College Ave regarding a
burglary report. When he arrived, the victim said her house was burglarized and
she saw the suspect. The victim said she and a roommate rent the lower
downstairs of the house and was home at the time getting dressed when she heard
footsteps from upstairs area. The victim thought it was the owners of the
house. She then heard noises coming from her roommate’s room and knew that her
roommate was at work. The victim went to investigate saw an unknown male ransacking
her roommate’s room with a laptop in his arm. When the suspect saw the victim
he ran upstairs and fled. She called the police right away. The officers at the
scene believed the suspect gained entry into the house through a pair of French
doors. CSI responded to the scene to collect any evidence left behind. Report

10:17am Naples/Amazon Robbery
Officer Deering and Officer Johnson were on duty when they
were dispatched to Amazon and Naples Street regarding a robbery. When they
arrived to the scene, the female victim said that her iPhone 5 was stolen. She
said she was walking westbound on Naples Street when two suspects approached
her. One of them pushed her on the ground and said “Give me your phone”, and was
then punched in the back of the head. After the assault and robbery the victim
saw both suspects jump into a green SUV which fled the scene last seen traveling
towards Geneva Avenue. Officer Deering
requested an ambulance for the victim and was treated and released at scene. Report

Blk Mission Aggravated Assault
Officer Casey and Officer Dominquez responded to the 4600
block of Mission Street in regards to a report of a battery. When they arrived
at the scene, Officer Casey observed bruising around the victim’s left eye. He
told the officers that he was walking to his girlfriend’s apartment when he was
approached by his girlfriend’s ex boyfriend. A verbal argument ensued before
erupting into a physical altercation. The victim tried to get away but was tripped
by the ex- boyfriend, who continued kicking and punching the victim until the
fight was broken up by several by-standards. The ex- boyfriend ran away towards
Excelsior Avenue. The Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage from a

Blk Kelloch Robbery
Officer Lozano and Officer McCall responded to the unit
block of Kelloch Avenue regarding a robbery. When they arrived at the scene,
they talked with the victim, who was robbed of his wallet by two unknown
suspects. The victim said that two subjects were walking westbound on Kelloch
Avenue when they passed him they suddenly jumped him from behind, punched him
three times and pushed him to the ground and grabbed his wallet. The victim’s
uncle said that he didn’t get hurt. The victim refused medical treatment. Report
