ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boosts in the area of O’Shaughnessy and Bosworth.  The break ins are occurring around the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Please report any suspicious activity to the police.  Do not leave valuables in your cars.

JUST A REMINDER:  Schools are out for summer session.  Please pay extra attention when driving around parks and playgrounds as children will be out all hours of the day.

Recently, a flyer was distributed to the community regarding scams targeting the monolingual Chinese.  These scams involve telling the victim that an evil spirit is following them.  They will ask the victim to bring valuables to pray over as an offering to the spirit. They will return to the victim what is believed to be their valuables. They will ask the victim not to look at their valuables for a day.  When the victim later checks their valuables, they find that the valuables were not returned by the suspects.

We urge all person(s) confronted with this scam to call 911 as this is a crime in progress.  By contacting 911, you greatly increase the chance of catching the suspect(s) so that the police can make an arrest.  If someone approaches you with this scam, decline their help, call 911 immediately and report it to the police.  Be a good witness.  Obtain a description of the suspect(s) and/or vehicles they are driving.

Arrests:

11:23pm     San Jose/Santa Ynez              Firearm
Ingleside Officers Morse, Pan, and Kilgariff were on routine patrol when dispatch sent them to investigate a man with a gun riding a MUNI LRV train. The officers arrived at the intersection of San Jose and Santa Ynez and noticed the LRV stopped on the tracks. Dispatch had informed the officers that witnesses reported a man in his 20’s, wearing a green striped sweatshirt, and carrying a large weapon. The officers exited their patrol car, drew their weapons, and slowly approached both sides of the train. As they approached, a young frightened female passenger got off the train and quickly walked away. Shortly thereafter, a young male, matching the description of the suspect, got off the train and also started walking away. The officers, ordered the man to stop, place his hands in the air, and get on the ground. The suspect initially failed to obey the commands. The officers repeated their commands, and the suspect slowly got on the ground where he was quickly handcuffed. A search of his pockets turned up several shotgun shells. Inside the LRV, by one of the back doors, was a sawed off shotgun. The officers arrested the suspect on brought him back to Ingleside Station and booked him for weapons violations. A computer check revealed the suspect to be an active gang member. Report number: 130598575
