Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

12:57am 4500 Blk Mission Graffiti
Officers Hauscarriague and Sutton were on routine patrol when they observed a fist fight between two men on the 4500 block of Mission Street. The officers exited their patrol car in an attempt to separate the combatants. Just then, one of the combatants ran away with the officers in pursuit. They quickly caught the suspect and put him in handcuffs before bringing him back to the scene of the fight. The other combatant told the officers that he caught the suspect “tagging” his home and when he asked for him to stop, the suspect punched him in the mouth. They then exchanged punches for a short while before the officers arrived. The home owner signed a citizen’s arrest form for the graffiti/vandalism offense and the suspect was cited and released. Both the victim and suspect refused medical attention. Report number: 130114303
2:05am Mission/Appleton Robbery with Firearm
Officers McMilton and Peregrina were dispatched to call of a person with a gun. When the officers arrived they were approached by a young man, with a large contusion to his forehead, who said he was attacked by two men with a gun. The victim said the men approached him after he left a local store and demanded his valuables. The victim refused and fought the two men as they tried to reach into his pockets. The suspects, he said, gave up and escaped in a white van after only stealing a six pack of beer he was carrying home. The victim gave the police a description of the vehicle. Officer Pederson, hearing the description, saw a matching vehicle a few blocks away and conducted a traffic stop. The driver matched the description of one of the suspects and a search of the vehicle turned up a handgun that also matched the one used in the robbery. The driver, who was unlicensed and had a prior arrest for affiliation with a known street gang was transported to Ingleside Station and placed under arrest. Report number: 130114422
2:06pm 3400 Blk Mission Narcotics Violations
Officer Archilla was on foot patrol on the 3400 block of Mission Street. He observed two men approach a building and began knocking on the front door, but when one of the men spotted Officer Archilla, he quickly walked away. Highly suspicious, the officer walked up to the other man who said he was trying to get into the building to “see a friend”. The officer, for his safety, patted down the suspect and discovered narcotics paraphernalia. The suspect initially gave the officer a false name and when questioned again, finally gave his real identification. He was cited for the paraphernalia and for lying to the officer and released. 7:14pm 200 Blk Onondaga Resisting/Obstructing an Officer
Officers Anderson and Seavey, along with other Ingleside units, were sent to the 200 block of Onondaga after a report of possible person with a gun. On arrival, the officers found several young men and women standing in front of the building. One of the subjects in the group quickly ran away with Officer Anderson in pursuit. The chase continued for several blocks before the suspect was finally apprehended on Rudden Street. When asked why he ran, the suspect told Officer Anderson that he was on Federal probation. He was transported to Ingleside Station and cited and released. All the other young men and women were eventually released. No gun was found. Report number: 130116694.
11:54pm Valencia/Cesar Chavez Driving Under Influence
Officer Dominguez and Carrasco were on patrol when they noticed a Toyota stopped between two lanes of Cesar Chavez near Valencia. The officers pulled up behind the vehicle and noticed the driver asleep at the wheel with the engine running and the car in gear. The officers knocked on the window but the driver would not wake up. Officer Carrasco then opened the driver’s door and reached in and turned off the ignition and put the car in “park”. Officer Carrasco woke the driver who opened his eyes and then quickly fell out of the open door onto the street. After an in depth investigation, it was revealed that the suspect was under the influence and was currently on probation from Alameda County. The suspect was booked for driving under the influence and driving without a valid license. Report number: 130116939

2:14am Cortland/Nevada Robbery
Officers Barajas and Lustenberger were dispatched to the above address after the report of a robbery. The victim told the officers that he was robbed at gunpoint by two men who escaped in a white van. The officers broadcasted a description of the van and the suspects, one of whom was arrested soon thereafter for participating in a similar robbery, at another location, only a few minutes before this crime. 7:29pm 5900 Blk Mission Battery/Attempted Robbery
Officers Paras and Shugars were dispatched to a report of an attempted robbery and assault. Upon arrival, the officers interviewed two victims who said they were confronted by a man and a woman while riding a MUNI bus home. The suspects and victims exited the bus at Silver and Mission streets where the suspect started assaulting the victims while demanding “their stuff”. The suspects then ran away without stealing any of the victim’s property. Both victims were treated at the scene by paramedics. Report number: 130116296
CRIME ALERT: There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area. Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.
Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket: This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.
Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
