DUI Saturation Patrols
This Thursday
San
Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be conducting DUI saturation
patrols on Thursday, January 19, 2017 between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 3:00
A.M. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by
up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols
are conducted routinely.
Officers
will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment by checking drivers
for proper licensing, delaying motorists only momentarily. When possible, specially
trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired
driving. Recent statistics reveal that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes
had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more
tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for
alcohol (7.3 percent). Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent, at 7.4
percent, slightly more than alcohol.
Drivers
caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail
time, fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000, not to
mention the embarrassment when friends and family find out.
Funding for
this checkpoint is provided to the San Francisco Police Department by a grant
from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Drivers –
Call 9-1-1’.

& Paris Resisting Arrest
Four men drinking alcohol on a street corner caught the
attention of Ingleside Officers Marshall and Rissetto. Three of the men stopped
drinking and obeyed the officer’s commands to stand still while being
questioned. However, one of the suspects, too inebriated to stand for long,
became combative and had to be restrained. He was taken to Ingleside Station
and booked for being drunk in public and for resisting arrest. Report number:

& Cesar Chavez Stolen Auto
Officers throughout the city were on the lookout for a
stolen Chevy Impala that was taken from a Sausalito address. Ingleside Officers
Carew and Wong spotted the vehicle, with three occupants, at Cesar Chavez and
Kansas Street. They radioed for backup and pulled the stolen Chevy over at
Cesar Chavez and Vermont. The two passengers and the driver were handcuffed and
removed from the car. A search revealed a quantity of methamphetamine in the
driver’s pocket. In the car were stolen identifications and bank cards. The
driver also had an expired license and was wanted on a Santa Clara County
arrest warrant. He was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for a variety of

Amethyst Hot Prowl
Burglary
A man working in his home office heard a loud “bang” from the
area of his front gate. A short time later he heard another “bang” and then
noises coming from the downstairs area of his home. He went to a stairway and
yelled “hey”, and then saw two suspects leaving his home empty handed. Ingleside
Officers Cvetovac and Debellis responded and discovered the burglars entered
the home through the front door. Report number: 170028811

Miraloma Hot Prowl Burglary
A woman arrived home and saw a strange car parked in front of
her residence. She walked up the entrance and found her front door kicked in.
Instead of backing out and calling police, the woman walked into her home and
found two suspects. She asked one of them why they were in her home and he
replied, “Everything is okay” and walked past her out of the home. However, he
quickly changed his mind, and tried to grab her cell phone. She resisted and he
and his accomplice ran to a waiting Silver Chevrolet which sped away. Ingleside
Officers Chew, Trail, Dominquez, and Vong arrived and searched the ransacked
home for clues. The victim also surveyed her home and discovered jewelry,
accessories, and cash worth thousands of dollars missing from the residence.
