Serious Incidents:
3:00am 100 Blk Madrid Explosion
Officers Labson and Mendiola were dispatched to a call of an
explosion. A witness told the officers
that she heard a loud “boom” that she believed to be louder than
fireworks. The officers checked the area
along the front of the witness’s house and found several plants and flowers spread
across the sidewalk. They also located a
powdery-like substance and several small balls that appeared to come from an
explosive device along with pieces of plastic from some type of container. The officers contacted another neighbor who
told them that he witnessed a suspect outside throwing something at his
house. He then saw the suspect carrying
a large, white container towards the area of the planter box that held the
plants and flowers that were damaged. He
saw the suspect place the container on the sidewalk near the planter,
manipulate it, and quickly fled the area.
Suddenly, the container erupted with a bright flash and loud explosion.
The officers gathered some more evidence before leaving the scene. This incident is still under investigation. Report 160624708
