Arrests:

12:35pm               Mission St/Persia Ave                      Resisting Arrest
Officers Tupper and Sugitan were on patrol when they spotted a suspect riding a bicycle on a sidewalk.  The officers pulled alongside the suspect and ordered him to stop.  The suspect refused the officer’s orders and began to peddle at a high rate of speed in an attempt to escape.  Officer Tupper exited the vehicle and gave chase to the suspect. In the pursuit, the suspect rode his bicycle through a stop sign without attempting to stop.  At one point, the suspect fell from the bicycle.  He got up and continued to flee on foot while pushing his bicycle beside him.  The officers caught up with the suspect as he found himself trapped between some parked cars.  Officer Tupper ordered the suspect to stop, and again he tried to flee on his bicycle.  A physical fight ensued between the officers and suspect as he refused to comply with the officer’s orders.  Several other officers arrived on scene to assist. The suspect was finally taken into custody.  An ambulance was summoned to treat the suspect for minor injuries sustained during his resistace, and he continued to fight with officers and medical personnel.  With the assistance of the officers, the medics were finally able to restrain the suspect and he was transported to the hospital.  Further investigation revealed that the bicycle the suspect was riding was registered through the Safe Bike program and was reported as stolen.  The suspect was booked on several charges.  Report 160450741
