3:52am       Unit Blk Arago                       Hot Prowl Burglary
A barking dog helped a citizen and police capture a burglar. The victim told Ingleside Officers Sandoval and McMilton that he and his girlfriend were asleep in their downstairs bedroom when their German Shepard dog started barking aggressively at the door. The victim got up, put the dog on leash, and opened the door which connected to an adjacent garage. He noticed the garage door was open and he went outside to see the suspect walking down the street with a pair of the victim’s shoes slung over his shoulder. He told his girlfriend to call police while he, and his dog, chased the suspect. The suspect, possibly recognizing that he wasn’t going to escape the victim and his now unleashed dog, stopped and sat down on the curb until Officers Sandoval and McMilton arrived seconds later. Besides the shoes on his shoulder, the suspect took the victim’s backpack from the garage and placed several other pairs of the victim’s shoes inside. He was arrested for burglary and taken to Ingleside Station. Report number: 160279143
