SAN
FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT TAKING BACK UNWANTED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS APRIL 30,
2016 AT ALL DISTRICT STATIONS
San
Francisco, CA – On April 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the San Francisco
Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the
public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their
homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription
drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to any of the San Francisco
Police Departments District Stations throughout San Francisco. The
service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
This
initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.
Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion,
misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly
high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these
drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are
obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In
addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of
unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the
trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.
Please
start preparing now and look through your medicine cabinets.
WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING INTRA-VENOUS
SOLUTIONS, NEEDLES, INHALERS OR PATCH STYLE MEDICATIONS.
ILLICIT SUBSTANCES SUCH AS METHAMPHETAMINE,
MARIJUANA, ETC ARE NOT PART OF THIS INITIATIVE.

Arrests:
5:39pm London/Excelsior Warrant Arrest
Ingleside officer Parker and Sergeant Ly were driving in a
marked patrol car when they stopped and then entered the Intersection of London
and Excelsior Streets, making a left turn. Before they could complete the turn
the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer blew through the intersection almost
colliding with the patrol car. The officer followed the Lancer for a short
distance and stopped the driver. He told the officers that his license was
suspended but gave his name. A computer check revealed two outstanding warrants
for vehicle code violations from San Mateo and Marin Counties. He was taken to
Ingleside Station for booking on the warrants. Report number: 160331486
7:28pm 500 Blk Naples Aggravated Assault
San Francisco Police officers were notified to be on the
lookout for a juvenile wanted for a particularly brutal attack on a Muni
passenger. The passenger had noticed the young man and his friends drawing
graffiti on the inside of a Muni bus. The passenger asked the boys to stop and,
instead of agreeing to the reasonable request, the young man punched the
passenger several times in the head. He was joined in the assault by a couple
of his friends. The miscreants momentarily exited the bus at the next stop only
to board back again and continue the assault. They finally exited for good and
escaped. Muni video captured the assault and a bulletin was issued for the
young high school student who started the attack. On this night, Ingleside
officers Williams and Naser spotted the suspect and quickly, without incident placed
him in custody. Report number: 160219672
