Ingleside Sergeant Kumli and Officer Pacchetti spotted an older Honda parked in a bus zone with three people inside. The officers parked behind the Honda and were walking up to the vehicle when two men opened the passenger side doors and started to exit the car. The officers ordered the two to stay in the car and they complied. When they reached the car the officers smelled the familiar odor of Marijuana. A computer check of the driver revealed he was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. Ingleside Officers Barajas and Lustenberger along with several State Parole Agents arrived to assist Kumli and Pacchetti. The officers searched the Honda and found a significant amount of marijuana along with more than 30 Oxycodone pills. The backpack owner, a passenger in the vehicle, told the officers he didn’t have a medical marijuana card nor a prescription for the narcotic. He was also on parole, with a search and seizure provision, for harboring a fugitive. He was taken by officers to his home for a felony search of his residence. The driver was taken to Ingleside Station for booking on the narcotics charge. The third occupant was released.3:40pm 28th Street/Church Resisting ArrestThe caller told dispatch that a man was assaulting a woman and may have a weapon. Ingleside Officers Suguitan and Mbeleke Eteti responded and found the suspect near 28th and Church Street. The officers attempted to place the suspect in handcuffs but he violently resisted trying to move his body and hands even after he was handcuffed. He attempted to pull away from the officers while yelling at them. He was finally subdued with the help of several other officers who arrived to help with the arrest. The woman victim refused to press charges and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. The witness, who called dispatch, told the officers that he observed the suspect struggling with the woman until the victim ran away with the suspect chasing her. During the arrest an acquaintance of both the victim and the suspect showed up and yelled at the victim to not talk to the police. He was told not to interfere with the investigation but he persisted trying to interrupt the officer’s interview of the victim. He was taken into custody for interfering with an investigation. The victim refused to sign a statement or a citizen’s arrest form against her aggressor. The suspect was cited for resisting arrest and released at the scene.
