Arrests:3:54am 21st/Diamond Stolen VehicleA citizen noticed suspicious behavior in a parked SUV at the corner of 21st and Diamond Streets. There were two men inside and every time he drove by the occupants would duck down as if trying not to be noticed. A few blocks away, the witness contacted Ingleside Sgt. Carew and Sgt. Singh in their marked patrol car. The sergeants drove to the intersection and noticed the SUV did not have any license plates. Carew and Singh approached the occupants and asked for identification. Both suspects were on parole and one, the driver, had a search condition. The SUV was reported stolen from an address in San Rafael. Inside the vehicle were stolen credit cards, passports, bank statements, a check, a credit card reader, The subjects were taken to Ingleside Station and booked for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and other crimes. Mitchell was working another call when he noticed a late model Ford Escape driving westbound on Folsom toward Bessie Street. A short time later he heard a loud “crash” and turned around and noticed the Ford had collided with a parked car at Bessie and Folsom Street. Four occupants of the Ford suddenly jumped out and began running away. Sgt. Mitchell radioed for assistance and began pursuing the driver of the vehicle. He caught up to the suspect at Folsom and Precita and placed him in custody with the assistance of Sgt. Fisher. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for auto theft and was intoxicated at the time of the theft. The owner of the vehicle, who lived nearby, was contacted to retrieve her car.
