SFPD and San Francisco Planning are working with the operators of the radio tower at the top of Bernal Hill to make security (e.g. fencing upgrades and cameras) and landscaping improvements. This tower hosts antennas for both commercial systems as well as those used for communications by first responders (police and firefighters). The improvements are currently underway by American Tower. The lighting will also be adjusted and placed on a motion-sensor.

We would welcome your help in being an extra set of eyes and ears to discourage vandalism or potential disruption to crucial police and fire communications. If you see something suspicious, please call police dispatch at (415) 553-0123 or in an emergency call (415) 553-8090.

If you have questions about tower itself, please contact the Wireless Planner, Omar Masry, at (415) 575-9116, or Omar.Masry@sfgov.org

 Arrests:

11:05pm     Velasco/Sawyer                                Stolen Vehicle
We’ve written before about how older Honda’s are one of the cars of choice for car thieves. That was in the back of the minds of Ingleside Officers Billings, Neary, and Glenn while on patrol after they passed an older Honda Accord with expired registration near Velasco and Sawyer Streets. The officers made a U-Turn and started following the vehicle as it drove west on Geneva. After a couple of blocks, the officers activated their emergency lights and siren and attempted to pull the vehicle over. However, the driver, with one passenger, decided to run at high speed rather than stop. The officers, in the interest of safety, terminated their pursuit and watched the vehicle speed away. However, they kept looking for the car assuming that the occupants would soon abandon the stolen car rather than risking getting spotted again. The officers were right. They spotted the now unoccupied vehicle at Italy and Lisbon. A citizen notified the officers the two occupants were hiding behind another vehicle parked on the 600 block of Paris Street. They were quickly taken into custody. Inside the car the officers also found assorted stereo equipment. One of the suspects also had an outstanding warrant. Report number: 150953915
