On this day, Officers Lustenberger, Quintero, along with Sgt. Alvarez were keeping an eye on an address where illegal gambling occurs and where satellite crimes related to gambling have spawned numerous arrests. As the officers drove by they recognized a man who had been arrested several times before for auto theft. When the officers slowed down the suspect threw a red and black object into the street between two parked cars. Lustenberger and Quintero quickly exited their patrol car and approached the man who was about to enter the building. The suspect denied throwing anything in the street but nearby surveillance video clearly showed him parking then exiting a brand new 2015 Mustang and then throwing what turned out to be car keys in the street between two other parked vehicles. The officers retrieved the keys and used the remote to unlock the Mustang which turned out to be stolen. The suspect was arrested and charged with auto theft and possession of narcotics, methamphetamine, which was found in his clothing. Report number: 15015406611:19 pm Delta/Campbell Concealed WeaponA vehicle with its license plates covered by paper caught the understandable attention of Ingleside Officers Lucia and Hackard. The officers turned on their emergency equipment and pulled the driver over near the intersection of Delta and Campbell. When the officers asked the driver for license, insurance, and registration he started reaching down the underside of his right thigh. Officer Hackard, fearing for his safety, removed the driver from the car and placed him in handcuffs. A search of his pockets revealed an illegal doubled bladed “butterfly” knife along with a significant stash of prescription narcotics. A computer check revealed he was unlicensed and had a “No bail” warrant for his arrest for auto theft. In the back seat of the car were several tools used to break into vehicles. The suspect was charged with several felonies. Report number: 150155321Serious Incidents:1:37pm Unit Blk Baywood Hot Prowl BurglaryA man and woman were downstairs at their home when they heard a loud “bang” coming from upstairs. The man decided to go upstairs to investigate and when he did he heard two sets of footsteps walking through the home. He was wary because no one was supposed to be upstairs at that hour. Upstairs he discovered his grand daughter’s bedroom ransacked. He also found the front gate and door damaged and open. When he went to his bedroom he discovered several drawers open and empty and several thousand dollars missing from a hiding place. Ingleside Officer Lim responded and investigated the burglary. He found pry marks around the front door and gate and determined that was the entry and exit point for the burglars. He also discovered clothing taken from the grand daughter’s bedroom outside the home. The Ingleside Station Investigative Team and the department’s CSI are continuing the investigation.
