your neighbors prepare for and respond to a disaster by working together. The
20-hour training, taught by First Responders, includes personal preparedness,
light search and rescue, disaster medicine, shutting off your utilities, and
how to participate as a member of a neighborhood response team. NERT also offers continuing training for
graduates and activities that support building robust neighborhood teams. For more information, visit the NERT website

Are you someone who is
interested in disaster preparedness and wants to help out your community while
working hand in hand with law enforcement? Then the ALERT program is for
you!
What is the A.L.E.R.T. Program?
The San Francisco Police Department has developed a
volunteer citizen disaster preparedness program. The Auxiliary Law Enforcement
Response Team (ALERT) is modeled after and works in partnership with the San
Francisco Fire Department's Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). The
ALERT program will train members of the public to assist law enforcement in
essential tasks after a major disaster. Such tasks may include: traffic
control, foot patrol of business and residential areas, and reporting criminal
activity. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and live, work, or attend
high school in San Francisco.
Three steps to becoming an
A.L.E.R.T. volunteer:
1. Complete NERT training and receive
certification. To register for NERT training courses please visit www.sfgov.org/sfnert
2. Once NERT certified, forward a copy
of your NERT ID card to the ALERT program. sfpdalert@sfov.org
3. After clearing a basic background
check the individual is eligible to register for ALERT training.
9:31pm Santa Ynez/San Jose Drugs/Counterfeit Money
A botched drug deal resulted in the arrest of both the drug seller and the drug buyer. Officers Conway and Khan came to a stop at the intersection of Santa Ynez and San Jose Avenue when they observed a male subject run past their patrol car onto Southbound San Jose Avenue. Seconds later, they then heard a woman yell causing the officers to look down Santa Ynez Avenue. The woman, who was driving, pulled next to the officers and told them she was just robbed by the male subject who had just ran past them. The officers quickly turned onto San Jose Avenue in pursuit of the fleeing suspect. They caught up to the suspect and took him into custody about a block away. The female driver arrived and told Officer Conway that she was selling marijuana to the suspect who had paid for the drugs with counterfeit money. The female was then arrested for admitting to selling drugs and the male suspect was booked for being in possession of marijuana and counterfeit money. Report Number: 140822671

Bruno/Racine Stolen
Vehicle
Officers McCall and Lozano were stopped at a red light at
the intersection of Geneva and Schwerin when they noticed a White Saturn blow
past them as it traveled down Geneva Avenue at a high rate of speed. Officers
McCall and Lozano immediately followed the vehicle trying to catch up to it.
They caught up to the vehicle at Bayshore and Leland and quickly ran the
license plate, which showed it as a reported stolen vehicle. The officers knew
they were going to have to pull the vehicle over and requested for additional
back-up. Sgt Robinson happened to be close by and responded. The officers lit
up the vehicle with their red lights and siren. The driver complied by pulling
over and was then taken into custody along with the front passenger as well.
Upon further inspection Officer McCall found that the driver used a shaved key
to start the stolen vehicle. The driver was ultimately booked on numerous
felony charges and the passenger was released. Report Number: 140812412
