Outstanding Police Work: Members of the Ingleside Police Station have been hard at work, while putting their lives on the line, and recovered a total of five guns between a five day period, beginning Oct 31, 2013 to Nov 5, 2013. Among the weapons recovered were three handguns, one shotgun and one Tech-9 sub-machine gun all stemming from four separate incidents. Of the five subjects taken into custody, two were on probation and had extensive police records. We strongly believe that these great arrests may have prevented some serious crimes from taking place. The San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) is free training from the San Francisco Fire Department in how to help yourself and your neighbors prepare for and respond to a disaster by working together. The 20-hour training, taught by First Responders, includes personal preparedness, light search and rescue, disaster medicine, shutting off your utilities, and how to participate as a member of a neighborhood response team. NERT also offers continuing training for graduates and activities that support building robust neighborhood teams. What is the A.L.E.R.T. Program?
The San Francisco Police Department has developed a volunteer citizen disaster preparedness program. The Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) is modeled after and works in partnership with the San Francisco Fire Department's Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). The ALERT program will train members of the public to assist law enforcement in essential tasks after a major disaster. Such tasks may include: traffic control, foot patrol of business and residential areas, and reporting criminal activity. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and live, work, or attend high school in San Francisco.
Three steps to becoming an
A.L.E.R.T. volunteer:
1. Complete NERT training and receive certification. To register for NERT training courses please visit www.sfgov.org/sfnert
2. Once NERT certified, forward a copy of your NERT ID card to the ALERT program. sfpdalert@sfov.org
3. After clearing a basic background check the individual is eligible to register for ALERT training.
The next ALERT training class has been scheduled for Jan. 18th, 2014, from 8:00am-5:00pm. This class will be held at the San Francisco Police Academy, in the parking lot bungalow.
Scam Alert: Here is how it works: the suspect will call the victim and identify himself as a PG&E employee. The suspect will ask for the victim by name and ask if he/she is the owner of a particular business or property. Once the victim replies yes, the suspect tells the victim that his/her bill is delinquent in a specific amount. The suspect then tells the victim that he/she needs to pay the delinquent bill by a certain time or their service will be terminated. The suspect instructs the victim to buy MoneyPak cards in a specific amount. The suspect then instructs the victim to read the card's code numbers to him over the phone. Once that is done, the money is gone and the scam is complete.
The suspect will give the victim a call-back number that goes to a voicemail that identifies itself via recording as PG&E.
If you receive a call like this, please call the customer service number on your billing statement to confirm the call is legitimate. If that call turns out to be a scam, please have a police report made

5:20pm Sgt John Young/San Jose Vandalism
A suspect under arrest for a previous crime added to his woes by damaging city property. The suspect became angry while in one of Ingleside Station’s holding cells and started kicking the cell door. Ingleside Officer Thompson, who was completing paperwork about the suspect’s arrest, told the suspect to stop kicking the door. The suspect refused to comply with the request and kept kicking the door finally breaking a thick window in the door. Officer Thompson along with Lt. Delgadillo and Sgt. Chan finally had to place the suspect in restraints to prevent further damage to the cell and injury to himself. Report number: 131029981

12:00pm 100 Blk Parque Shooting Into Dwelling
A citizen called police after her son found a bullet hole in her window and the bullet lying on a carpet in her bedroom. The resident was unsure when the damage was done but speculated between 12 noon and 3pm. Ingleside Officers Morse and Rock seized the bullet for evidence and took pictures of the damage. 9:30pm 4200 Blk Mission Attempted Robbery
A young juvenile man was waiting on the sidewalk when approximately 12 other young juveniles walked up to him and asked if he was from the neighborhood. When he said “no”, the suspects demanded his Louie Vuitton belt. The victim refused and told Ingleside Officers Carrasco and Clemente that he ran away with the suspects in hot pursuit. After a short chase, the victim ran inside a nearby restaurant and closed the front door preventing the suspects from entering. The restaurant staff called police and the suspects, unable to gain entrance, ran away. Case number: 131030364
11:00Pm 100 Blk Molimo Marijuana Cultivation
Ingleside Officers Holland, Lok, and Hauscarriague were dispatched to check on the well being of residents of a home on Molimo Street. A neighbor had called and said the garage door was open and the garage was dark. The officers entered the home and discovered several rooms with dozens of marijuana plants, grow lights, fertilizers, irrigation equipment, ventilation fans, and a sophisticated electrical system that bypassed the PG&E meter. All the plants and equipment was seized as evidence. A neighbor reported there was a continual “revolving door” of people coming and going from the home and the occasional appearance of a crew cab pickup truck. The case is under investigation.
