Crime Alert: Glen Park BART Station and surrounding area; A recent trend in robberies are occurring where suspect(s) are running up behind an unsuspecting victim and proceed to shove or push them to the ground and then forcefully take their cell phone, MP3 player and/or other valuable belongings. If you happen to see what may seem like a fight taking place on the street, it could actually be a robbery taking place. Immediately call (415) 553-8090 from your cell phone or “911” from a landline. Ingleside Police Officers are stepping up their efforts and increasing patrol to the area as well as sending our plain clothes officers to conduct surveillance. Remember, report any crime that you see taking place or anything that looks suspicious.

Weather related safety; Due to the inclement weather involving high winds, there have been numerous downed power lines and fallen tree limbs throughout the city. If there is a power line down in your neighborhood, for your own safety, do not approach it and stay a safe distance away while calling “911”.  Our headquarters will dispatch officers as well as the appropriate department to come out and assess the situation and repair the damage. If there is a fallen tree limb, call “311” and request DPW (Department of Public Works) to come out and handle the hazard. Also, be sure to look up to see if there are any broken tree limbs that are hanging from the tree that can pose a threat to people and/or property. Call “311” immediately.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

5:31pm       300 Blk Naples                         Drugs
Officers Barajas and Burke were on patrol and driving along the 300 block of Naples Street, when they spotted a vehicle parked illegally on the sidewalk. The officers stopped and exited their patrol vehicle and smelled the strong odor of Marijuana. Officers Barajas and Burke, along with Ingleside Officer Chew, asked the four occupants of the vehicle to step out of the car, while the car was searched for weapons and narcotics. During the search, the officers discovered a tightly rolled up five dollar bill used to inhale cocaine. When questioned, one of the occupants admitted he used the currency to ingest cocaine. Additional searching turned up psilocybin mushrooms and quantities of marijuana and cocaine. One of the occupants was transported to Ingleside Station and booked on a variety of narcotics charges and the other three occupants were released. Case number: 130339454.

8:20pm       Mission/ Ocean                        D.U.I
Ingleside Officer Grennell was sent to the intersection of Mission and Ocean Avenue to investigate a collision where a van collided with several parked motorcycles. When he arrived on scene, the officer found a suspect sitting against a streetlight with the scent of alcohol on his breath and bloodshot eyes, but normal speech. When questioned, the suspect told Officer Grennell that he consumed approximately twelve beers during the last two and a half hours. A witness, who owns one of the motorcycles damaged in the collision, told Officer Grennell that he heard a crash and saw the suspect driving away. He, and the owner of one of the other motorcycles, chased the suspect a short distance and stopped the escape and asked the driver to exit his van. A records check revealed the suspect was unlicensed and had been cited numerous times  for driving without a license. After a thorough investigation, Officer Grennell concluded that the suspect was intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Report number: 130340019.
