Crime Alert: Glen Park BART Station and surrounding area; A recent trend in robberies are occurring where suspect(s) are running up behind an unsuspecting victim and proceed to shove or push them to the ground and then forcefully take their cell phone, MP3 player and/or other valuable belongings. If you happen to see what may seem like a fight taking place on the street, it could actually be a robbery taking place. Immediately call (415) 553-8090 from your cell phone or “911” from a landline. Ingleside Police Officers are stepping up their efforts and increasing patrol to the area as well as sending our plain clothes officers to conduct surveillance. Remember, report any crime that you see taking place or anything that looks suspicious.

Weather related safety; Due to the inclement weather involving high winds, there have been numerous downed power lines and fallen tree limbs throughout the city. If there is a power line down in your neighborhood, for your own safety, do not approach it and stay a safe distance away while calling “911”.  Our headquarters will dispatch officers as well as the appropriate department to come out and assess the situation and repair the damage. If there is a fallen tree limb, call “311” and request DPW (Department of Public Works) to come out and handle the hazard. Also, be sure to look up to see if there are any broken tree limbs that are hanging from the tree that can pose a threat to people and/or property. Call “311” immediately.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

Arrests:

1:33am       300 Blk Wilde                         Resisting/Delaying
Officers Gabriel and Zerga responded to a family dispute that was getting out of hand inside a residence along the 300 block of Wilde Avenue. As the officers walked towards the front door they could hear a loud argument taking place inside. They then made contact with the family members; who immediately pointed to a brother who they said was intoxicated and throwing items around trying to start a fight. The officers could see that the intoxicated brother was continuing to yell, while displaying an aggressive demeanor and was flailing his hands in an animated manner. For their safety and the safety of the family members, the officers decided to detain him by placing him in handcuffs. The brother suddenly snatched his arm away from officer Zerga and began to struggle. Officer Gabriel came to assist, while the brother continued to resist. After a brief struggle, both officers were able to gain control and place the brother in handcuffs. The brother sustained an injury to his leg, therefore was transported to the local hospital for further treatment. At the hospital the brother was cited for two misdemeanor charges including resisting and was released into the doctor’s care. Report Number: 130315482

Officers Dun and Sgt Lozada were dispatched to a trespassing call on the 200 block of Ocean Avenue. The store owner advised the officers that he has made numerous police reports documenting this fact. Today, the suspect came into the store and was immediately told by the store owner to leave. The suspect refused and began to argue. The store owner said the suspect began to act violently and feared for his safety, so he immediately called the police. The suspect told the officers that the store owner had him confused with someone else and didn’t know what they were talking about. The officers transported the suspect to Ingleside Station and looked into the matter further. The officers were able to find the previous reports made, which listed the suspect as being admonished to never return. The suspect was ultimately cited for the trespassing offense, an infraction, and was released from the station. Report Number: 130316838.

He then went to take a look and saw the suspect inside his vehicle looking through the contents contained in the glove box. He immediately went outside to confront the suspect, but when she saw the victim coming she attempted to flee. The victim grabbed the suspect’s arms and kept her there while he called the police.
