If you happen to see what may seem like a fight taking place on the street, it could actually be a robbery taking place. Immediately call (415) 553-8090 from your cell phone or “911” from a landline. Ingleside Police Officers are stepping up their efforts and increasing patrol to the area as well as sending our plain clothes officers to conduct surveillance. Our headquarters will dispatch officers as well as the appropriate department to come out and assess the situation and repair the damage. If there is a fallen tree limb, call “311” and request DPW (Department of Public Works) to come out and handle the hazard. Arrests:
3:29am Alemany /Niagara Burglary
Officers Padilla and Seavey were dispatched to the area of Alemany and Niagara Avenue regarding an auto boost in progress. Dispatch had the caller on the line, who was providing the suspect’s description. Upon arrival, the officer spotted a male, matching the description, walking up Niagara headed towards Mission Street. The officers quickly stopped and exited their vehicle in an attempt to speak with him, but as the officers got closer, he began to walk away from them at a faster pace. The suspect discarded a few items he had in his hand thinking the officers wouldn’t see him, but he was wrong. The officers caught up to him and immediately detained him and recovered the items as well. They noticed that the suspect was bleeding from both of his hands. Officer Padilla and Ma then walked down the block and found the vehicle that had been boosted. They noticed that the passenger window had been shattered and there was blood inside the vehicle. They then contacted the owner of the vehicle, who identified the discarded items as his property. The caller who witnesses the incident identified the suspect as the same subject he saw earlier breaking into the vehicle. The suspect was ultimately booked on several charges including burglary of a vehicle. Report Number: 130309429
6:20pm 5200 Blk Mission Drugs
Officer Hurwitz was on patrol when she noticed a vehicle illegally parked on the 5200 block of Mission Street. She stopped and went over to speak with the driver and front passenger. While speaking with the occupants, she smelled a familiar scent, which she knew to be burnt Marijuana. Officer Hurwitz also noticed that both the occupants had redness in their eyes, which meant that they had just smoked some Marijuana. With the help of Officers Castillo and Grennell, they searched the vehicle and found several prescription medications, which did not belong to the driver or the passenger. The passenger insisted the medication was for a family member. They then searched both subjects and found additional drugs on the passenger. Needless to say, he was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for drug possession. The driver was cited for the parking violation and released from the scene. Report Number: 130311593
Serious Incidents:
12:25pm Mission /Richland Theft
Officer Leong was dispatched to a call at Mission and Richland Avenue regarding a theft that just occurred. Dispatch informed Officer Leong that four suspects just stole the victim’s purse and bag while riding on the bus. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim, who stated she boarded the MUNI bus at Mission and Persia Avenue. She proceeded to sit at the rear of the bus, when she noticed a subject, who was part of a group, staring directly at her. The victim said she was not intimidated, so she stared back at him. This angered the subject, because he approached her in an aggressive manner and began yelling at her. When the bus pulled into the bus stop at Mission and Richland Avenue, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and bag and ran off the bus, followed by his three acquaintances. All four suspects were last seen running Eastbound on College Avenue from Mission Street. Officer Leong contacted MUNI and requested surveillance footage of the incident. Officers searched the area for the suspects to no avail. Report Number: 130310307
CRIME ALERT: There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area. Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.
Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket: This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.
Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
