If you happen to see what may seem like a fight taking place on the street, it could actually be a robbery taking place. Immediately call (415) 553-8090 from your cell phone or “911” from a landline. Ingleside Police Officers are stepping up their efforts and increasing patrol to the area as well as sending our plain clothes officers to conduct surveillance. Remember, report any crime that you see taking place or anything that looks suspicious.

Weather related safety; Due to the inclement weather involving high winds, there have been numerous downed power lines and fallen tree limbs throughout the city. If there is a power line down in your neighborhood, for your own safety, do not approach it and stay a safe distance away while calling “911”.  Our headquarters will dispatch officers as well as the appropriate department to come out and assess the situation and repair the damage. If there is a fallen tree limb, call “311” and request DPW (Department of Public Works) to come out and handle the hazard. Also, be sure to look up to see if there are any broken tree limbs that are hanging from the tree that can pose a threat to people and/or property. Call “311” immediately.

Public Safety; In light of recent events at the Boston marathon, the police department will be increasing patrols in areas where the public gather including special events. If you see a suspicious package that does not look right or does not belong in the area, do not investigate it yourself. Create a safe distance between you and the suspicious package and do not use your cell phone to call the police. Use a landline to call “911” and provide your location and if possible the description of the package. Officers will be dispatched to assess the situation and take the appropriate action.

Arrests:

7:10pm       4600 Blk Mission                   Pellet Gun
Officers Rueca, Hurwitz and Duffin were assigned to conduct a robbery abatement detail in response to the robberies that have been taking place recently. While patrolling the area, they observed a vehicle illegally parked in front of a commercial store with the engine running and with two occupants inside.  Both occupants were very focused and looking intently at the establishment. Both occupants remained in the vehicle with the engine running for several minutes without anyone entering or exiting the commercial establishment. Thinking this was highly suspicious; the officers approached the vehicle and questioned the driver who stated he was waiting for someone.  A record check of the driver revealed prior arrests for weapons possession.  The officers questioned him regarding weapons and he told them he had a gun in the vehicle.  The officers had the driver and passenger exit the car and a search of the vehicle was conducted, where they located a gun and a holster. After further investigation, it was revealed that the gun found was in fact a pellet gun.  At the instruction of Sgt. Riskin, the driver was cited for possession of the pellet gun.  All evidence was booked at Ingleside station.  Report Number 130300370

He was not injured and refused medical assistance.  The officers searched the area for any suspects or witnesses to no avail.  They were unable to locate any possible video surveillance cameras.  Report Number 130297937

Officers Anderson and several other Ingleside officers responded to assist the victim of an assault.  They met the victim and a friend of hers who told them that one of the roommates had gotten into an argument with the victim and began throwing things at her.  The victim stated that the suspect had thrown a dresser drawer at her and injuring her in the process.  She refused medical assistance.  The officers searched the area for the suspect, but could not locate him because he had left the home prior to their arrival.  They took pictures of the scene and the victim’s injuries, which they booked into evidence.  The officers obtained an emergency protective order for the victim and provided her with a copy of it.  Several officers canvassed the surrounding area for the suspect to no avail.  Report Number 130298220

Officer Aslam was sent to a call of a strong arm robbery.  He met with the victim who said that she was sitting in a restaurant texting on her Iphone, when someone approached her from behind, grabbed her phone, and fled out of the restaurant headed down Mission Street.  The victim was not injured and said she did not see who took her cellular phone and therefore would not be able to identify them.  Officer Aslam searched the area unsuccessfully for any witnesses and was unable to locate any video surveillance as the restaurant was being remodeled.  Report Number 130298703

6:45pm       3300 Blk Mission                   Fraud/Theft
Officers McMilton and Peregrina were dispatched to a fraud report.  They met with the victim, who told them that an unknown male telephoned his home and said that his PG&E was going to be shut off if he did not pay his bill immediately.  The suspect knew the amount due on the victim’s bill so the victim believed the call to be credible.  He was instructed to purchase a MoneyPak card at Walgreen’s in the amount due and read the serial number to the caller.  The victim did so and was given a confirmation number by the suspect.  The victim later called PG&E to make sure the money was credited to his account and was told that nobody by the suspect’s name worked for them and that he needed to file a police report.  The officers took pictures of the MoneyPak and the receipt, which they later booked into evidence.  Report Number 130300621

*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.
