Arrests:
2:37am 4600 Blk Mission Drugs
Officers Jones and Campos were on routine patrol and stopped at the intersection of Brazil and Mission Street. They looked across the street and happened to see a subject urinating on the sidewalk in front of the U.S Bank located on the 4600 block of Mission Street. They also saw his two friends sitting close by in a MUNI bus shelter with open beer bottles. The officers went over and detained the three subjects and found a 12 pack with 8 remaining unopened Budweiser beer bottles next to them as well. They ran a computer check, which revealed that one of them was on active probation with a search condition. Officer Campos proceeded to conduct a search on his person and found a large amount of marijuana contained inside two sandwich bags. The suspect advised the officers that he had an expired medical Cannabis card, but that he did not have it on him. The officers placed this suspect under arrest for the possession of marijuana and having an open beer bottle in public and booked him accordingly. The subject that was caught urinating in public was cited for the offense. The third subject was also cited for having an open beer bottle in public. Both subjects were then released from the scene. 2:00pm Mission/Richland Resisting
Officers Sugitan along with several Ingleside officers were assigned to conduct a MUNI fare inspection in the area of Mission and Richland Avenue. He and other officers boarded a MUNI bus and escorted two subjects off the bus for not having proof of payment. During the encounter, Officer Sugitan noticed that the male subject had a large object bulging from underneath his sweatshirt and was attempting to conceal it by turning his body away from him. Believing the subject was trying to hide a weapon, Officer Sugitan searched him. During the search, the subject became uncooperative and attempted to break free from Officer Sugitan’s grasp. Officer Sugitan tried to keep control, but the subject kept resisting. With the help of additional officers, they were able to control the subject and found the bulge to be a large plastic bag containing Marijuana. After further questioning, the subject advised he had a valid medical marijuana card and the marijuana in the bag was just purchased from a Marijuana dispensary. The subject said he was nervous because he had the Marijuana. The subject was ultimately cited for resisting the officers and fare evasion and released from the scene. Report Number: 130190397.
6:38pm 4600 Blk Mission Robbery
Officer Shugars along with numerous Ingleside units were dispatched to the area of Mission and Ocean Avenue regarding a call of a robbery. Upon arrival, Officer Shugars met with the victim, a Walgreens employee, who stated that she was working at the front counter and was helping a customer when a suspect walked up to the side of the counter and said, “Give me the money, I have a gun”. The victim stated that she was in fear for her life, so she opened the till drawer. The suspect reached over the counter and grabbed the money from the till and put it in his pockets. The suspect looked at the victim and said, “Give me the rest of the money in there”. The victim then handed the suspect a roll of $5 bills. The suspect grabbed the money and ran out of the store in an unknown direction.
While at the scene, Officer Shugars was approached by a witness who stated that she was walking to her car when she noticed that there was a minivan parked behind her. She noticed that there were two people sitting in the van. She stated that a short time later, she saw the suspect running towards the minivan and entered the passenger side of the minivan. The minivan immediately pulled into traffic and fled Eastbound on San Juan Avenue in an unknown direction. As the minivan pulled away, she wrote down the license plate number assuming that something was wrong.
Officer Shugars then updated dispatch with the suspect’s description and the vehicle’s license plate number. Dispatch ran the plate and notified the officers that the registered address on the minivan came back to the unit block of Addison Street. Numerous units responded to the location, where Officers Burke and Barajas located the minivan, parked in a driveway, and occupied with 5 people. The officers detained and searched the suspects, finding money on three of them. The officers transported the witnesses who identified the suspects and the vehicle used in the robbery.
