CRIME ALERT: Increase in recent trend of robberies and thefts in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area,
Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

*Do not store or carry your phones in your back pocket, people will know you have one.

*If you see any suspicious activity involving you or others, or see someone needing help
Call the police.Crime Alert: Precita Park area; There has been numerous incidents where several bicycles have been stolen out of residential garages. Suspect(s) have broken into vehicles parked along the street and have taken the garage door openers and used them to open the owner’s garage to gain access. Once inside, they steal anything of value, including bicycles. You wouldn’t leave the key to your front door in your car, so don’t leave your remote garage door opener in your car either. If you happen to hear your garage door opening, and it wasn’t you, call SF 911 directly.
Crime Alert: Glen Park area; A couple business burglaries in the area have been reported where laptop computers and other expensive electronics have been stolen. Suspects have forced entry or crawled through an open window to steal these items that were left on the front counter and easily seen from the street. When your business is closed, hide these items out of plain site and if possible, locked away. Always make sure your windows and doors are locked and secure before leaving.
Arrests:
6:15am Mission/Excelsior Robbery
Officers Dun and Marino were dispatched to a call of a male subject yelling for help. As the officers responded to the area, dispatch received additional information that two suspects were seen hiding in a bush along the unit block of Cotter Street and provided their clothing description. Several Ingleside units responded to the area and found the two suspects still hiding behind the bush. Officer Dun spoke to the victim who said he was on a 14 Mission MUNI bus headed towards downtown from Daly City. When the bus stopped at Mission and Excelsior, one of the two suspects grabbed his Red bag containing his cell phone, money, spaghetti lunch and drink and ran off the bus. The victim chased after the two suspects but lost sight of them along the unit block of Cotter Street. A passerby helped the victim by calling the police. Officers searched the area where the suspects were hiding and recovered the Red bag. The suspects had already rummaged through the bag and took the phone and money and discarded the spaghetti and Red Bull drink. The officers then took the victim to the location where he positively identified the suspect who robbed him. Officer Baldovino decided to call the victim’s cell phone and immediately heard the phone ringing from inside one of the suspect’s pocket. The phone and money were retrieved and the suspects taken to Ingleside Station where they were charged with robbery. Report Number: 130227019
11:57am Mission/Geneva Drugs
Officers Hurwitz and Duffin were on patrol in the area of Geneva and Mission Street when they observed a vehicle, with no front or rear license plates, pull into the gas station. The officers followed the vehicle into the gas station and decided to talk with the driver and her three passengers. When Officer Hurwitz was speaking with the driver, she smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officers proceeded to search the vehicle and found eleven hand rolled cigarettes, each partially burned, and each containing a small quantity of Marijuana, inside the center console. The driver was ultimately cited for having no license plates and possessing Marijuana in her vehicle and released from the scene. The officers seized the drug and booked it in as evidence. 11:15pm Mission/Ney D.U.I
Officers Jones and Campos responded to Mission and Ney Street in regards to a possible drunk driver. A witness had called in stating there was a drunken subject in a Green Honda Accord revving his engine. When the officers arrived, they located the vehicle and the subject still inside. The officers tried to get his attention but he was unaware of their presence and attempted to put the vehicle in gear. The officers tried again and received a blank stare from the driver. Fearing the subject would actually drive away and cause an accident, Officer Jones had to open the driver door and physically reach in to turn the vehicle off. When the driver stepped out of his vehicle he was very unsteady and had difficulty walking. The officers conducted a D.U.I investigation where the driver failed the Field Sobriety Test’s. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence. Report Number: 130229736

3:01am 3200 Blk Mission Robbery
Officer Anderson responded to the area of 29th and Mission Street in regards to a possible robbery. When he arrived, he spoke to the intoxicated victim, who said he was walking along, with a beer in his hand, when suddenly he got hit on the back of the head by an unknown suspect. The victim said he fell down and the suspect proceeded to take his wallet and money out of his pocket and fled the scene. Officer Anderson requested medics to the scene who transported the victim to Seton Hospital. Officer Anderson searched the area for any witnesses or surveillance cameras with negative results. 2:10pm Farnum/Moffitt Robbery
Officer Johnson responded to the 300 block of Addison Street regarding a robbery with a gun. She spoke with the victim who had responded home after the robbery took place. The victim said she was standing at the MUNI bus stop located at Farnum and Moffitt Street when a suspect approached her from behind. The suspect then confronted the victim by pointing a Black gun with an Orange tip at her stomach and said, “Give me your phone!”. The victim, fearing for her safety, handed her new Iphone over to the suspect. The suspect grabbed the phone and fled, running down Moffit towards Diamond Street. The victim said her phone was new, therefore had not set up the tracking feature. The victim said she would be able to identify the suspect if she saw him again. Report Number: 130228205.
4:30pm Ward/San Bruno Assault
Officer Mccall responded to the UCSF hospital located at 400 Parnassus regarding a victim of a battery that occurred at San Bruno and Ward Street. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim, who said that she was on the MUNI 9 Line on her way home when the suspect, a former classmate whom she knew, began to argue with the victim. When she got off the bus on San Bruno at Ward Street, the suspect approached her and challenged her to a fight. The suspect began to attack her, pulling her hair and punching her causing her to fall on the ground. The victim said she tried to defend herself and fought back. After the fight was over, the victim grabbed her bag and proceed home, but began to feel dizzy and her left knee was sore from the fall. The victim informed a family member who took her to the hospital for treatment. Report number: 130229883
7:22pm 800 Blk Cortland Robbery
Officer Morse was dispatch to 800 Cortland Avenue regarding an armed robbery call. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim, who was working as a cashier, when two suspects approached the counter armed with a Silver colored handgun and demanded the victim to give them the money. The victim fearing for her safety complied with the suspects demands. The suspects reached into the cash register and took the money and fled the scene. A witness stated he saw the suspects heading down Cortland towards Gates Street. The victim was not injured. Several officers canvassed the immediate area to no avail. Report number: 130229140
9:25pm London/Brazil Robbery
Officer Bernard responded to 20 Brazil Avenue on a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim who stated, she just finished parking her car near the intersection of London and Persia Avenue. While walking Northbound along the 300 block of London Street, she saw a subject walking directly at her. The subject came up to the victim and immediately grabbed at her bag. The victim was able to hold on to her bag before the strap on the bag broke allowing the suspect to run off with it. The suspect ran Northbound on Brazil before jumping into an awaiting vehicle and fleeing the scene. The victim said she would recognize the suspect if she saw him again. Report number: 130229510
CRIME ALERT: There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area. Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.
Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket: This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.
Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
