Arrests:

4:15am       Silver/Congdon                      Stolen Vehicle
Officers Seavey and Gabriel were on routine patrol when they came to a stop at the intersection of Silver and Congdon Street. Up ahead, they saw a vehicle approaching them, headed in the opposite direction on Silver Avenue. The vehicle abruptly stopped in the middle of the street, where there were no posted stop signs or traffic signals. The officers felt this was very suspicious and approached the vehicle cautiously. As they passed, they could see that the vehicle was occupied by only the driver. The officers ran the license plate on the Honda, which revealed the car to be a stolen vehicle. The officers jumped into action by stopping the vehicle and taking the driver into custody. The officers found a shaved key jammed into the ignition, which was used to start the car, along with other burglary tools lying on the floorboard. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station where he was booked on numerous felony charges. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene. Report Number: 130119933
                                     **********Best Arrest of the Day**********

11:46pm     Alemany/Crescent                 Driving Under the Influence
Officer Jones was on routine patrol waiting at a Red light at the intersection of Alemany and Crescent Avenue. When his light turned Green, Officer Jones started to go through the intersection, but quickly noticed that a Silver car, which was now stopped at the Red light (other direction), proceeded through the intersection as well, against the Red light.  Officer Jones effected a traffic stop and contacted the driver. While speaking with the driver, Officer Jones smelled an odor of Marijuana and asked the driver if he had smoked or had any Marijuana in the car. The driver replied and said he had smoked it hours earlier. Officer Jones suspected the driver to be under the influence of drugs and conducted an investigation. The driver ultimately failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged for driving under the influence of drugs. Report Number: 130125902.

They spoke with the victim, who said she had just gotten off a MUNI bus and was walking home from Prague and Persia Avenue. When the victim was a few houses away from her home, a suspect approached her from behind and began pulling at the bags she was carrying. The victim turned around and struggled to keep her belongings. After several seconds, the suspect overpowered her taking the victim’s shoulder bag and tote bag. The victim yelled out for help and lost sight of the suspect. The suspect walked up to her, grabbed her purse and ran back to the awaiting vehicle. The victim said she cut her hand when the suspect yanked her purse away from her. The suspect ran off with the victim’s purse containing her cell phone, wallet, a necklace and money. A witness, who saw the get-away vehicle, described it as a Grey, newer model sedan, possibly related to the robbery on the 100 block of Prague Street. Report Number: 130125742.

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and                                                                                                                                                    The surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
