CRIME ALERT: Increase in recent trend of robberies and thefts in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area,
Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

Arrests:


7:06pm       Mission/Seneca                        Weapon
Officers Grennell and Fung were on patrol when they were flagged down by a female victim. She told the officers that she was concerned about a suspicious person who was taking pictures of her while she was pumping gas at the gas station. The victim gave the description of the suspect and the officers verified it with her. The officers approached and detained the suspect, who was still in the immediate area. The suspect told the officers that he was taking photos of the victim and her car because she almost ran him over as she pulled into the gas station. The officers asked the suspect if he had any weapons on him and he stated he had brass knuckles in his pant pocket. Officer Grennell performed a pat search and seized the brass knuckles from the suspect. Officer Grennell performed a records check on the suspect, to which dispatch advised them that the suspect currently had an outstanding traffic warrant. The officers handcuffed the suspect and searched the area for the victim, but she was unable to be located. The officers brought the suspect to Ingleside Station and booked him for the weapons charge and outstanding warrant. Report number: 130119303.

1:27am       3200 Blk Mission                    Assault
Officers Graham and Apodaca responded to a call regarding a fight involving a person armed with a baseball bat on the 3200 block of Mission Street. When they arrived, they located the subject who turned out to be a victim of an assault. The victim said he had just left a nightclub when he was confronted by two unknown suspects who began to argue with him. During the argument, one of the suspects produced a baseball bat and began to attack him, hitting the victim numerous times in the head and body. The victim’s girlfriend came to his aide, but was punched in the face by one of the suspects as well. The victim fought back and disarmed the suspect by taking the bat away from him. Both suspects then ran away from the scene. The victim was eventually taken to the local hospital for multiple contusions to his face and head that he sustained during the attack. 3:00am       Unit Blk Naples                      Robbery
Officers Carrasco and Dominguez responded to a 911 call on the unit block of Naples Street. They met with the victim who spoke Cantonese. Sgt Wong, a Certified Cantonese speaking officer, arrived and spoke with the victim, who said her adult son and his female companion came home and woke her up. The female suspect began to demand money from the victim, but when she refused, the suspect struck her numerous times. The victim became extremely fearful and gave the suspect money. The victim said her son witnessed the assault, but did nothing to stop it. Both suspects then left the house. A family member was contacted to come take care of the victim. Officer Dominguez contacted Adult Protective Services who will be investigating the incident. Report Number: 130117385


1:50pm       200 Blk John F Shelley            Weapon
Officer Grennell and Sgt Lozada responded to an anonymous 911 call regarding a person with a gun inside John Mclaren Park. The officers arrived and began searching for the suspects up towards the water tower located in the Northwest area of the park. During their search, they encountered a jogger who said when he jogged past the two suspects, the male suspect pointed a gun at him which made a “clicking” noise then put it away. The jogger continued on his way until he encountered the officers. At this point, two more citizens approached the officers and advised them of the same two suspects with the gun. Numerous Ingleside units scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Report Number: 130118418


CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and           The surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.

5:30pm            Unit Blk Ervine           Burglary; Suspect # 1; other male, 23-29 years old, unknown hair, unknown eyes, dark skin, skinny build. Last seen wearing Gray hooded sweatshirt, Black jacket, Blue pants and bright colored shoes.
