Arrests:

1:50pm 3100 Blk. Mission Robbery

A customer enjoying a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop was suddenly approached by two suspects one of whom, showed a pistol in his waistband, then grabbed the victim’s cellphone and fled. Ingleside Officers Hopkins and Eugenio arrived and broadcast a description of the suspects. Soon, thereafter, multiple Ingleside units including Lt. McEachern, Sgt. Ly, Sgt. Tam, Sgt. Rogers, Officers Latus, Chang, Salazar, Lim, Wong, and Hornstein arrived and started searching the surrounding area for the suspects. Their efforts paid off as the suspects were quickly located on the 1400 Block of Shotwell and arrested. The victim positively identified the suspects as the pair that robbed him of his phone. The officers also confiscated a BB pistol which resembled an actual firearm. Both suspects were taken to the Juvenile Justice Center and booked for armed robbery. Report number: 180142138

2:33am 500 Blk. Campbell Exhibiting a Weapon

Ingleside Officers Billings and Hardy, and many other Ingleside units, responded to a report of two men with guns attempting to break into a home. When the officers arrived the suspects had already left the scene. The victims told the officers they observed one man on the sidewalk talking to another man inside a fence on the 500 block of Campbell. The man on the sidewalk quickly ran away and the second suspect, inside the fence, also tried to escape. The victim’s got in their car, armed with a baseball bat, and chased the second suspect for a short distance before cornering him at Campbell and Delta Streets. When one of the victim’s threatened the suspect with the bat, the suspect took out a black semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the victims. The suspect then fled the area and the victims returned home to call police. The victims said the pair of suspects may have been among a group of squatters occupying an abandoned home in the area. 7:00am 400 Blk. Sunrise Fire

Ingleside Officers Trujillo and Lau responded to a report of a fire at a home. When they arrived medical and fire personnel had already extinguished the blaze. One of the residents was at St. Francis Hospital being treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. He told the officers he woke up to the smell of smoke and failed in his attempt to extinguish the blaze in the living room near a space heater. Report number: 180141049

Arrests:

12:23am Cotter & Mission Stolen Vehicle

An older Honda, traveling southbound on Mission without its lights on, caught the attention of Ingleside Officers McCall and Lozano. The officers turned around and followed the Honda while running the license plate through the system. The Honda was stolen a few days before. Lozano and McCall notified dispatch and asked for backup. They, along with Officers Esponoza and Foxworth, pulled the driver over at Cotter and Mission Street. He was unlicensed, and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Marin County, and was on probation in San Mateo County for possession of stolen property. The suspect was again arrested for possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and the outstanding warrants. Report number: 180136335

11:58am 300 Blk. Ocean Search Warrant

The Police Department has received many complaints about an illegal gambling establishment on the 300 block of Ocean. After an investigation the Department procured a search warrant, which was executed by Ingleside Officers Lee, Carew, Mora, Barajas, Jensen, Archilla, Seavey, Piper, and Phillips, along with Sergeants Lopez and Lau. They used the warrant to search the premises and confiscating more than a dozen illegal gambling machines and arrested an employee who worked at the establishment. Report number: 180138858

12:45pm 500 Blk. Madrid Warrant Arrest

A citizen called police to report a man, with a history of harassing behavior and performing lewd acts in a public place, was sitting in the children’s playground of the park. Ingleside Officer Harper, along with Sgt. Faye, detained the man and, after checking with the warrant bureau, arrested him for $10,000 outstanding warrant for theft, burglary, and other charges. 5:00am Unit Blk. Wabash Terrace Hot Prowl Burglary

Ingleside Officers Quinlan and Freed were dispatched to a report of a home burglary. The victims told the officers they walked downstairs that morning and found a door to the garage open. They also found laundry items and cigarettes missing from the garage. More importantly the victims discovered their keys to a Toyota Camry, along with the car normally parked outside, also missing. Surveillance video from a nearby residence shows two cars arriving outside of the residence shortly after 5:00a.m. An unknown suspect exits one car and walks to the victim’s home shortly before both suspects speed away. 5:56am Brussels and Ordway Discharching of a Firearm

A “shot spotter” alert sent Ingleside Officers George and Anderson to investigate. When they arrived on scene they found four expended cartridge casings on the 1000 block of Brussels. However, they did not find any damage to vehicles or homes in the area. Report number: 180138024

1:50pm San Jose & Baden Theft

A high school student riding the “J” streetcar home lost her headphones to a thief. She told Police Services Aid Dugan that a fellow passenger ran up behind her as she was sitting on the Muni vehicle and ripped the headphones, along with some hair, off her head. The suspect then ran off the streetcar and escaped in an unknown direction. Report number: 180139395

Arrests:

1:45pm 200 Blk. Addison Stolen Vehicle

We’ve written before about the likelihood that vehicles, with paper license plates, are likely to be stolen or involved in some crime. The vehicle code requires that all vehicles, not yet issued license plates, have a temporary registration tag in the front windshield or rear window. On this day, Ingleside Officers Peralta and Harper were on routine patrol when they spotted an older Toyota Camry with paper plates and no visible temporary registration tags. The officers noticed two men inside and a third talking to the occupants next to the passenger window. Peralta and Harper approached the Toyota and found the occupants smoking marijuana. A check of the Toyota’s registration revealed it was reported stolen three days before. The driver was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and booked on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and for possession of marijuana in a vehicle by juveniles. His passenger was released to his parents and the third man was released at the scene. Report number: 180129716

1:40am Mission & Silver Robbery

A man waiting for a Muni bus to take him to work became suspicious of when a gray four door Honda, with four occupants, suddenly made a U-Turn and stopped next to the curb where he was standing. The victim told Ingleside Officers George and Fogarty that a man got out of the passenger side of the Honda and grabbed his backpack from his shoulder. The victim struggled with the suspect for several seconds before the suspect punched the victim several times in the face forcing him to relinquish control of the backpack. The suspect then got back into the Honda which sped away. George and Fogarty noticed the victim was bleeding from cuts to both hands which were probably caused by a weapon the suspect used in the attack. The officers broadcast a description of the attackers and their automobile and less than four hours later Mission units stopped what they believe was the same car, with blood smears on the side, and chased several occupants before detaining them. The officers towed the car to impound and the occupants were released pending further investigation. Report number: 180135224

8:00pm 700 Blk. Joost Hot Prowl Burglary

A woman leaving for work in the morning went to her garage and noticed two bicycles missing. The victim told Ingleside Officers Lim and Cvetovac that her garage door was wide open. The officers inspected the garage door and noticed the garage door frame and safety bar were damaged near the lock. The officers also noticed a pry bar near the garage door. Report number: 180138159

9:15pm Unit Blk. Stoneyford Robbery

A woman suffered serious injuries during a particularly violent robbery. The victim told Ingleside Officers Quinlan and Freed that she was unloading groceries from her car in the driveway, with her purse in her arms, when and unknown suspect came up from behind, grabbed her purse, and threw her to the ground. The suspect then ran to a waiting vehicle, climbed into the passenger door, and sped away. The victim was transported to Kaiser Hospital in South San Francisco where physicians treated her for a dislocated shoulder, nerve damage to her left arm, fractures to facial bones in her face, and a fractured tooth. The loss was car keys, and IPad, and a book. Report number: 180137468

10:20pm 5500 Blk. Mission Robbery

A suspect walked into a store, pointed a shotgun at a clerk, and demanded money. The clerk didn’t think the suspect was “serious” and wouldn’t hand over the money. The suspect then went to a second clerk using the same demands and this clerk believed the seriousness of the confrontation and handed over the funds from the cash register. Both clerks told Ingleside Officer Govindbhai the suspect then escaped running eastbound on Guttenberg. Report number: 180137543

11:00pm 900 Blk. Geneva Robbery

A man walked into Ingleside Station and told Police Services Aid Bruce that he had been robbed a short while ago. The victim said he was walking down Geneva, near Mission, when three men approached, one holding a knife. One of the three punched the victim in the eye and then took the victim’s backpack before all three escaped in an unknown direction. The loss was a small amount of cash along with a debit card and identification. The victim later traveled to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of his wounds. Report number: 180139602

4:12pm 4700 Blk. Mission Narcotics

A man running in and out of traffic prompted dispatch to send Ingleside Officers Harper and Peralta to investigate. When the officers arrived they found the suspect under the influence of methamphetamine and placed him in custody. Inside a pocket, the officers found a pipe used to smoke the substance. Medics were summoned and the suspect was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for detox. He was also cited for possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Report number: 180133983

7:14pm Blythdale and Brookdale Stolen Vehicle

Ingleside Officers Barajas and Jensen were on routine patrol when they spotted an older Honda driving toward them while on Blythdale Avenue. The officers knew that older Honda’s are prime targets of car thieves and this one was no exception. The officers turned around and followed the Honda as it sped away and then into a parking lot in the 200 block of Blythedale. The suspect then exited the vehicle and ran away with the police officers in pursuit. The officers caught the 13 year old suspect and placed him in custody. He was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and booked for possession of stolen property and for the stolen vehicle. Report number: 180134157

6:08am 500 Block Arlington Robbery

A man walking toward the Glen Park BART station was suddenly approached by two men, one of them holding a gun. The victim told Ingleside Officers Leong and Tiffer that the suspect holding the gun pulled back the slide on the weapon and told the victim to “give me everything”. The second suspect then removed the victim’s backpack from his shoulders containing a laptop and tablet. The suspects also stole the victim’s wallet, headphones, cellphone, cash, bank cards, and keys. The pair of thieves then commanded the victim lie on the ground and “count to thirty” before getting up. He complied. Once standing he ran to a pay phone and called police. Report number: 180132775

10:00am Diamond & Chenery Theft

Ingleside Officers Naser and Fazli were dispatched to a report of an auto burglary. Thieves had broken into a late model Tesla S and stole an IPad, checkbooks, and miscellaneous tax documents. While at the scene dispatch notified the officers the owner of the vehicle was at Brookdale and Geneva trying to track the location of his stolen items. The officers went to that location and interviewed the victim who said he was unable to find his property. He did give the officers the name of a witness at a coffee shop near the scene of the burglary. The witness told the officers that he saw a late model Acura stop near the Tesla and saw a passenger exit the Acura. The passenger walked around the parked Tesla and then broke the back window, reaching into the car, and removing a black shoulder bag. The suspect then re-entered the Acura which sped away. 5:34pm 4700 Blk. Mission Aggravated Assault

A man walking into the Burger King noticed a group of juveniles spray painting a bicycle on the sidewalk near the restaurant. The victim asked the youths what they were doing and they didn’t respond. After he walked into the restaurant one of the young men followed him inside holding a wrench. The suspect struck the victim in the rib cage before asking him if he wanted to “fight”. The victim ran out of the restaurant and across the street to call police. The suspects escaped in an unknown direction. An ambulance was called and medics treated the victim at the scene. 1:16am 2900 Blk. Alemany Suspicious Vehicle

A suspicious van caught the attention of Ingleside Officers Demkowski and Smith while both were on patrol. The van’s passenger door was open and one of the occupants was standing in the doorway. The officers ran the license plates to the van, which came back belonging to another dismantled vehicle and were prohibited from being used on any vehicle. The officers contacted the registered owner of the van and he told the pair that he sent the car to the junk yard and it should not be on the road. Two occupants of the van were removed and released at the scene. The license plates were seized and the van was towed to impound. Report number: 180130202

12:30am Unit Blk. Danton Burglary

A woman called dispatch to report watching an unknown man break into a van parked on the street near her home. Ingleside Officers Ocreto, Wong, Tiffer, Naser, Chang, Cvetovac, Thomas, and Naser responded to the scene and arrested the suspect who was still in the van. The owner of the van was located nearby and she identified the GPS device, keys, coins, and other items as belonging to her and were secure inside her vehicle when she parked it earlier. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property. Report number: 180128605

5:41pm Unit Blk. Blythedale Arson

A report of a vehicle fire prompted dispatch to send Ingleside Officers Marshall and Rosales-Renteria to investigate. They arrived on scene and found the fire already extinguished by Fire Department personnel. The rear passenger window was rolled down and the vehicle was set on fire at an unknown time. 9:10pm Unit Blk. Flora Warrant Arrest

Ingleside Officers Marshall and Park were on patrol when a citizen flagged them down. The victim said his car had been burglarized while parked in front of his mother’s home and two pairs of sunglasses along with his cell phone were missing. He loaned the officers his work phone and using, the “find my IPhone” app, traced the phone to an address on the 2000 block of Jennings in the Bayview District. The officers found a woman holding the phone and asked the victim to dial the phone number. When the phone rang the officers placed the suspect in custody. A computer check revealed she had several warrants for her arrest including a $50,000 warrant for burglary. She was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for possession of stolen property and the warrants. Report number: 180127390

2:00am Unit Blk. Leland Attempted Robbery

A man heard his girlfriend scream, “What the f…”, when a man suddenly pushed the front door of her home and ran up the stairs holding a gun. The boyfriend ran to her aid and the suspect yelled, “don’t play with me, where’s the money?” When the boyfriend said he didn’t have any money, the suspect turned around and ran down the stairs and out of the home. Ingleside Officers Cagney and Mroz arrived and determined the origin of the event was an earlier confrontation in front of the home involving two men that was witnessed by another resident of the home. 2:21pm Silver & Congdon Robbery

An argument over a purse and an empty seat resulted in an assault and robbery. The victim told Ingleside Officers Prieto and Cvetovac that she was standing while riding a Muni bus when a seat became available. However, another rider placed her purse in the seat. When the victim asked the rider to move her purse so she could sit down, the suspect said, “No, this seat is for my purse”. The victim then responded, “I get it. This seat is important to your purse”. The suspect then got up and started yelling threats at the victim. The suspect then was joined by two other young women who started hitting the victim in the face. The victim struggled to the front of the bus, while the suspects continued the attack, and asked the driver to stop and let her off. The victim told the officers she attempted to protect herself by kicking back at the suspects. But, it didn’t help much as the suspects continued to punch the victim and, during the assault, gain control of her purse containing a cellphone and makeup. All three suspects then exited the bus and fled northbound on Congdon. The officers summoned medical help and the victim was treated at the scene by paramedics. Report number: 180126411

4:00pm Mission & Richland Attempted Robbery

Ingleside Officers Hoge and Rosales-Renteria were dispatched to Kaiser Hospital to interview two victims of an attempted robbery. The pair told the officers they were walking northbound on Richland Avenue when they were surrounded by 12 suspects, both men and women. The group attempted to steal one of the victim’s IPhone 10. When the suspects started punching the victims the victims punched back and several of the suspects fell to the ground from the victim’s punch. All of the suspects then ran away and the victims drove themselves to Kaiser Hospital for treatment. Report number: 180126916

6:25pm Ocean & Howth Sexual Battery

A woman walked into Ingleside Station to report an attack by an unknown assailant. She told Ingleside Officer Anton-Buzzard that she was walking on Ocean Avenue near Howth when an unknown man walked up behind her and touched her inappropriately under her clothing. The victim turned around and pursued the suspect, but was unable to catch him. Report number: 180127033
