Arrests:

7:18am                 Arleta/Bayshore            Traffic                

Sgt. Escobar and several other Ingleside officers were conducting random MUNI fare evasion checks when Sgt. Escobar observed a male almost be struck by a vehicle because he was crossing at a red pedestrian hand signal.  Sgt. Escobar advised the male to be careful and not walk against the red light because he was going to get hit.  The male began yelling profanities at the officers and Sgt. Escobar approached him in an effort to calm him down.  The male continued yelling profanities and insisted several times that Sgt. Escobar issue him a citation for the traffic violation.  Sgt. Escobar wrote the citation and suspect continued yelling profanities and refused to sign the citation.  Sgt. Escobar gave him several opportunities to comply and advised him if he failed to sign the ticket he would be placed under arrest.  The suspect continued yelling, became aggressive and Sgt. Escobar placed him under arrest.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station for booking and finally signed the citation after Sgt. Escobar gave him a final warning.  He was cited and released for the traffic violation.  Report number 110940112  **BEST ARREST OF THE DAY**

7:37am                 2200 Blk Bayshore       Resisting             

Officers Marino and Aslam were assisting Sgt. Escobar in conducting random MUNI fare evasion checks when a female boarded the bus without having paid her fare.  The officers detained her and gave her a final opportunity to pay the fare.  The suspect refused to pay the fare and resisted the officers as they attempted to escort her off of the bus.  She was removed from the bus and placed in handcuffs.  While the officers were writing her a citation for the fare evasion the suspect attempted to make a phone call from her cellular phone.  Officer Marino attempted to grab the phone away from the suspect and the suspect grabbed her fingers and dug her nails into Officer Marino’s skin.  At the instruction of Sgt. Escobar she was cited for the fare evasion and resisting the officers.  The suspect signed the citation and was released at the scene.  Report number 110939842

CPSAs Navarro and Callaghan responded to a fraud call.  They met with victim who advised that she received a call from her bank regarding suspicious activity on her credit card.  The victim advised the bank that the transactions they were calling about she had not authorized.  The bank employee requested that she file a police report.  The victim had no suspect information and could provide no further information or documentation to the CPSAs regarding the matter.  Report number 110940140

12:20pm               4900 Blk Mission           Robbery

Officers Sullivan and Padilla were dispatched to a purse snatch that had occurred earlier in the day.  They met with the victim who advised that she was walking on Mission Street when a male approached her from behind and forcefully grabbed her purse.  They began struggling and the male forced her to the ground.  The victim let go of the purse and the suspect ran down Mission Street.  The victim had visible scratches but refused medical assistance.  She provided the officers with a description of the suspect but stated she was unsure if she could recognize him.  She was given follow up information.  The officers searched the area for the purse and the suspect to no avail.  Report number 110940758

12:50pm               300 Blk Addison           Burglary

Officer Hui was sent to investigate a burglary.  He spoke with reportee who advised that he locked and secured the premises and when he returned found his office door was ajar.  He then saw a male exiting the premises as he was attempting to close the door.  He followed the suspect outside and the pointed told him, “I don’t have anything” and showed the reportee his empty bag.  The reportee followed the suspect and called 911 but was unable to get through to dispatch.  He returned to the office and noticed his laptop had been removed from where it was originally and had what appeared to be pry marks on it.  Officer Hui could find no other sign of forced entry into the premises.  He contacted SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit and they advised they would be responding to process the scene for any evidence.  Officer Hui provided the reportee with follow up information and advised him that crime scenes would be out within a few hours to attempt to collect evidence.  Report number 110940811

SFCCPD Officer Sanchez was on station duty when a victim responded to the station to make a report regarding a theft.  The victim told him that he locked and secured his belongings in a locker and when he returned found the locker open and his belongings scattered everywhere.  The victim said that his bank card was missing and requested a police report should any fraudulent charges be made.  He was provided with follow up information.  Report Number 110940190

5:00pm                 Unit Blk Canyon           Dog Bite

Officers Blume and Tam were dispatched to the call of a possible vicious dog.  They met with the reportee who stated that he found a dog in his yard and was able to contact its owner.  The owner stated he would respond to pick the dog up.  The reportee said the dog was friendly, but while waiting for its owner, caused damage to a gate leading to his yard and pushed open the side door of the residence.  It entered the reportee’s residence and bit his dog.  He was able to remove the found dog from his dog and the owner responded to pick up the found dog and apologized for what had happened.  The owner stated that the dog probably escaped from a vent opening in his garage.  Both parties exchanged information and requested no further police action.  The officers advised them to quarantine the dogs for at least 10 days and gave them the police report number to the incident.  The officers forwarded a copy of the report to SFPD’s Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit and filled out an Animal Bite Report form which they attached to the report.  Report number 110941687

Officers Lozano and McCall responded to a battery.  They met with the victim who advised that while waiting for a MUNI railcar she was approached from behind a male who asked her if he could touch her hair.  The victim told him no and to get away from her and the suspect slapped her once on her cheek area.  The suspect then boarded the MUNI railcar and left the area.  The victim was not injured and refused medical assistance.  She said that she would be able to identify the suspect if she saw him again.  She was provided with follow up information.  Report number 110942271

Arrests:

3:40am                 Madrid/Italy                 Veh. Burglary              

Officers Dominguez and Jones were dispatched to the call of a suspicious person attempting to enter a parked vehicle.  Dispatch provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle and the officers located the vehicle near Madrid and Italy Streets.  When they approached the vehicle they noticed a male sitting inside the vehicle.  They made contact with the male and attempted to have him exit the vehicle.  The male appeared intoxicated and became limp as the officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle.  They smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the suspect and summoned an ambulance to medically assess him.  The suspect was transported to the hospital by the medics.  Prior to the suspect’s transport, the officers made contact with the owner of the vehicle who stated that he did no give anyone permission to enter his vehicle, that he did not know the suspect and did not want any further police action taken.  The owner searched the vehicle and stated there was no forced entry and he did not believe anything was missing.

The officers responded to the hospital where one of the nurses removed a credit card from the suspect which did not belong to him but to the owner of the vehicle.  After medical clearance the suspect was transported back to Ingleside station and, at the instruction of Sgt. Daniels was booked into custody for burglary theft and possession of stolen property.  Report number 110937125  **BEST ARREST OF THE DAY**

3:15pm                 Unit Blk Phelan             Warrant              

Officers Yuen and Antonian were on patrol when they noticed a known suspect who had outstanding warrants standing in front of a vehicle near the unit block of Phelan Avenue.  They approached the suspect, detained him and placed him under arrest.  An arrest search of his person located an envelope containing a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with several glass pipes which are used for methamphetamine consumption.  The suspect was transported back to Ingleside station for further investigation.  The warrants were confirmed and the white crystalline substance tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.  At the instruction of Sgt. Lozada the suspect was booked for the warrants and the narcotics possession.  The narcotics were placed in an envelope and hand delivered to the narcotics box drop at the Hall of Justice.  Report number 110938571

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told PSA Cato that he locked and secured his vehicle and when he returned found several scratches on the hood, trunk and doors of the vehicle.  The victim was unable to provided PSA Cato with any further information and said there were no witnesses to the incident.  Report number 110938640

5:00am                 Sunnydale/Hahn            Robbery

Officers Peregoy and Hopkins responded to the hospital regarding a robbery that had occurred in the early morning hours.  They met with the victim who was Spanish speaking and Officer Padilla responded to assist with the translation.  The victim told them that he was walking to the bus stop when he noticed various males sitting inside the bus stop waiting area.  The victim said the males all stood up when he approached one of them pulled out a handgun, pointing it at him and began yelling obscenities.  Another one of the males came from behind him, put his hand around his neck and threw him to the ground.  The victim said he was kicked twice in the back area and then hit in the back of the head with a hard object.  He said the suspects then reached into his pants pocket, removed his wallet and various other items and fled in an unknown direction.  The victim said he did not get a good look at the suspects and could not identify them if he saw them again.  The victim had no visible injuries but the officers took pictures of him and the areas where he felt pain and booked them into evidence at Ingleside station.  They provided him with follow up information.  Report number 110937971

7:30am                 1800 Blk San Jose          Burglary

Officer Lundy was dispatched to investigate a burglary.  He spoke with the victim who said she locked and secured her premises when she left that morning.  She returned in the afternoon and found broken glass on the floor behind the front door and a window missing from the same door.  She said that various items were missing and also pointed out a brick on the floor in the rear of the home which may have been used to break the window.  Officer Lundy contacted SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit who responded and processed the scene for evidence.  He provided the victim with follow up information.  He attempted to locate any witnesses or video surveillance in the area to no avail.  Report number 110939375

Officer McCall responded to a burglary.  He met with the victim who told him that he left and secured his front door when he left and when he returned found several items missing.  There was no sign of forced entry into the premises but stated that he leaves a window open for ventilation and that appears to be where the suspect may have entered.  Officer McCall noticed an area near the window which might be a good surface for finger prints.  He made the necessary notifications and was advised that the SFPD’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit would be responding to process the scene.  He provided the victim with follow up information and advised the victim not to touch the areas near the window where the suspect may have entered.  Report Number 110939494

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told Officer Coles that he parked and secured his vehicle and when he returned found a door missing as well as various lights.  The victim was unable to provide the officer with any further suspect or witness information.  Report number 110937482

12:00pm              700 Blk Silver               Burglary

CPSAs Lee and Callaghan were dispatched to a burglary.  They spoke with reportee who stated that he locked and secured the premises and when he returned found the backyard door had been kicked in and the walls had been graffitied.  The suspects had left various cans and bottles which did not belong to the home and the CPSAs confiscated them as evidence.  They provided the reportee with follow up information and took pictures of the damage to the home which they booked into evidence at Ingleside station.  There was no other sign of forced entry to the home and the CPSAs processed the bottles and cans at Ingleside station for fingerprints.  Report number 110938355

1:15pm                 Unit Blk Phelan           Arson

SFCCPD Officer Chang was dispatched to a fire in the men’s restroom.  He arrived and smelled smoke coming from the men’s restroom and heard the fire alarm sounding.  He entered the restroom and found a garbage can on fire.  He asked dispatch for a fire extinguisher, Sgt. Wendt arrived with one and Officer Chang extinguished the fire.  Everyone was evacuated from the building and the SFFD responded and removed the garbage can from the restroom.  There were no surveillance cameras in the area to capture video footage of anyone who might have set the garbage can on fire.  Report number 110938424

SFCCPD Sgt. Wendt took a counter report from two theft victims.  The victims told him that they had placed their cellular phones in an unsecured cubby area and went to exercise.  When they returned they found the items missing.  They were unable to provide any suspect information and told the Sgt. Wendt there were no witnesses.  Report number 110918915

SFCCPD Officer Bermudez was dispatched to investigate a theft.  He met with the victim who told him he had secured his items in a locker with a combination lock.  When he returned he found the lock damaged and all of his items missing.  He was unable to provide any further information to the officer.  Later that afternoon the officer advised most of the victim’s items had been turned in to the lost and found department.  Report number 110928635

A victim responded to Ingleside station and told PSA Zabarte that he parked and secured his vehicle and when he returned found several items missing and the contents of the glove box scattered throughout the vehicle.  He was unable to provide any further information and advised he could find no sign of forced entry.  CPSA Navarro inspected the vehicle and was unable to recover any latent fingerprints.  The victim was provided with follow up information.  Report number 110937169

5:19pm                 600 Blk Edinburgh       Threats               

Officers Sugitan and Fung responded to a battery call.  They met with reportee who told them that his roommate accused him of having a relationship with another resident in the home and began challenging him to fight.  When the reportee ignored him the suspect punched him repeatedly in the head, knocked him to the ground and screamed at him in a threatening manner.  The victim complained of pain but refused medical assistance.  He told the officers he felt threatened by the suspect and felt that he was capable of carrying out the threats.  They detained the suspect inside the home while the victim agreed to sign a citizen’s arrest against him.  A record check revealed the suspect was on active parole.  His parole agent was contacted and instructed the officers to place a parole hold on him.  The suspect was transported to Ingleside station and booked for the threats.

Officers Hom and Blume were on patrol when they were dispatched to a battery.  They met with the victim who stated that she was inside the store when the suspect approached her from the rear and punched her several times in the head.  She pointed the suspect out to the officers and signed a citizen’s arrest for the battery.  The victim had slight redness to the forehead area and the officers summoned an ambulance to assess her.  A witness at the store collaborated what the victim had told the officers and the suspect was cited for the battery.  Report number 110936365

8:00pm                 Rey/Towerside              Resisting

Officers Dudley, Antonian, Yuen and Gonzalez were on patrol when they were advised by dispatch that there had been a shot spotter activation alert in the area.  The officers patrol the area frequently and recognize suspects and how they possibly conceal firearms.  One known suspect was lurking in the area and Officer Dudley believed his gestures were monitoring the officers’ locations and actions.  Based on their experience and training the officers also believed the suspect might be in possession of and attempting to conceal a firearm.  The suspect began to run away in the opposite direction of the officers.  The officers chased him and detained him a short distance later.  The suspect began resisting the officers and yelling obscenities and threatening things at them.  The suspect attempted to strike Officer Dudley in the head various times and continued resisting the officers.  The officers were finally able to take control and custody of the suspect and he was transported to Ingleside station.  The suspect stated he was not injured, refused medical assistance and when read his Miranda rights agreed to a taped statement.  Officer Gonzalez took pictures of the suspect and booked the pictures, along with his suspect’s taped statement, into evidence at Ingleside station.  The suspect was booked for resisting.  Report number 110936531  **BEST ARREST OF THE DAY**

Officers Almaguer and Hauscarriague had received information of a house where illegal activity was taking place.  While on surveillance there they made contact with three suspicious individuals who were loitering in the area.  A record check of one of the suspects revealed an outstanding warrant.  The warrant was confirmed, the individual was taken into custody, and booked at Ingleside station at the instruction of Sgt. 4:43am                 900 Blk Ellsworth         Burglary

Officers Contreras and Jones were sent to investigate a burglary with a man with a gun.  Several other Ingleside officers responded to the area for assistance.  They made contact with the tenants of the home who seemed very upset.  The male was bleeding from the facial area and the officers immediately summoned an ambulance to treat him.  The victim told him that he heard someone knock at the front door and when he went to answer a male forced the door open and began punching him repeatedly with a handgun.  The victim was thrown to the ground and began wrestling with the suspect.  The female resident heard the commotion and came downstairs to see the men struggling with each other.  She began screaming and the male stood up next to the suspect.  The suspect then hit the male victim again with the gun and fled the premises.  Both victims said that they did not know the suspect but believe they could identify him if they saw him again.  They provided a description of the suspect and various units canvassed the area to no avail.  The victims stated they didn’t believe anything in the home was missing.  The suspect left a beanie behind which had fallen off of him during the struggle.  The officers took custody of the beanie and booked it into custody at Ingleside station.  Report number 110934739

Officers Dominguez and Otaguro were on patrol when they noticed the front window to a commercial business had been smashed. The officers advised dispatch and did a walk through of the premises.  The premises were empty and the officers located the owner who responded to the business.  She advised them that he had locked and secured the premises when she left the evening before.  She did an inventory of the business and told the officers he did not believe any items were missing. She agreed to provide the officers with a copy of the business’ surveillance video and was provided with follow up information.  The officers took pictures of the damaged window which they booked into evidence at Ingleside station.  Report number 110934751

CPSAs Navarro and Reynolds responded to a burglary. They met with the reportee who advised that various items had been taken from the building and had surveillance video to provide the officers.  There was no sign of forced entry to the premises.  After viewing the video, the reportee stated he did not know the suspect and could not identify him.  The CPSAs took pictures of the premises and booked them into evidence at Ingleside station.  The reportee agreed to provide Ingleside station’s Special Investigation Team with a copy of the surveillance videos and was provided with follow up information.  The CPSAs did not find any suitable surfaces to process for fingerprint evidence.  Report number 110932692

Officers Hui and Giannini were dispatched to investigate a battery.  The victim stated that a male boarded the MUNI train he was riding and bumped into him.  The suspect then elbowed the victim on the right cheek area and stared at the victim to see if he was going to react.  The victim did not say anything and exited the bus.  The victim called the police and complained of pain to right cheek area.  An ambulance was summoned to the area to assist him.  The officers took pictures of the victim and provided them to the investigative team at Ingleside station.  The officers provided the victim with follow up information and ordered the surveillance video from MUNI dispatch.  Report Number 110934933

Officers Sanchez and Curry responded to a report of an attempted robbery.  Upon arrival, the victim was being treated by paramedics.  The victim told the officers he was approached by two suspects who asked him for money.  The victim told the suspects that he did not have any money.  One of the suspects suddenly struck the victim in the face with a hard object.  The suspect struck the victim a second time in the back of the head.  The victim fled in one direction, and the suspects fled in another.  Report 110932222

Officers Trujillo and Turner were dispatched to a report of someone breaking windows.  The victim was inside the bedroom of his residence when he heard glass break.  The victim ran into the living room to check on his relatives.  Two other victims were in the living room when the glass shattered, and one sustained a small cut to her forehead.  One of the victims saw two possible suspects fleeing the area, one holding a baseball bat.  The victim recognized both suspects.  Report 110932476

PSA Flynn took a report regarding false personation.  The victim received several “past due” notices in the mail regarding different accounts.  The victim had never authorized any of these accounts and was not aware that they had been opened under his name.  Report 110933446

Officers Fung and Walsh responded to a report regarding burglary.  The victim had returned to his residence after about a weeklong absence.  The victim told the officers he normally rents this residence out but that it had been vacated.  Upon his return, the victim discovered a window had been smashed. Pieces of copper piping had been cut from the walls.  Report 110932987

SFCCPD Officer Quintana took a report regarding theft.  The victim placed several of his personal items into a locker and secured it with a lock.  When the victim returned to the locker, he found that his lock had been removed and his personal items taken.  Report 110930107

PSA Heckenberg-Tognozzi took a report regarding false personation.  The victims had received a phone call from an unknown male suspect who claimed to be their grandson. The suspect told the victims that he had been arrested in Mexico and needed money for fees.  The victims transferred several thousand to Mexico.  A couple of days later, the victims discovered that their grandson had never been in Mexico and was safe at home.  Report 110932608

Officer Lundy responded to a report of a robbery.  The victim was standing on the sidewalk when a suspect approached him from behind and grabbed him.  The suspect reached into the victim’s back pant pocket and removed the victim’s cash.  The victim could not stop the suspect because he was holding his daughter in his arms.  The suspect fled.  Report  110934115

Officer Naval was dispatched to a report of a suspect being detained for shoplifting.  A witness saw the suspect take several items from shelves and conceal them in his backpack. The suspect attempted to leave the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.  A records check revealed that the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant.  The suspect was arrested.  Report 110930464

Officers Obot and Johnson were on patrol when they spotted a suspect who they knew was wanted on an outstanding warrant.  They exited their vehicle and began to walk towards him.  The suspect looked at the officers and then fled.  The officers gave chase and broadcasted the foot pursuit to other units who were responding.  Officer Hauscarriague located the suspect hiding in a bush and took him into custody.  The suspect was booked on his warrant.  Report 110548857

Officers Hurwitz, Hauscarriague and Almaguer were on patrol when they responded to an address that is known from prior police contact for narcotics arrests.  The officers made contact with a suspect who was on probation.  A probation search revealed that the suspect was in possession of narcotics.  The suspect was arrested.  Report 110930834

Officers Hart and Duffin responded to assist other officers who were involved in a foot pursuit.  The officers had detained a suspect wanted for an attempted robbery.  Officers Hart and Duffin made contact with a victim.  The victim had been riding the MUNI bus when the suspect approached her.  The victim was holding her purse on her lap with the strap around her neck.  The victim suddenly felt tugging on her purse.  The suspect yanked so hard on the purse that the victim was pulled up off of her seat.  The suspect was unable to gain control of the purse and fled from the bus.  A witness positively identified the suspect that the officers had detained as the suspect who had attempted to rob the victim.  The suspect was arrested.  Report 110931133

Officers Almaguer and Hauscarriague were on patrol when they noticed the driver of a cab that matched the description of a suspect that was wanted for threatening an executive officer.  The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and positively identified the driver as the wanted suspect.  The driver was taken into custody.  There was a passenger in the vehicle that the officers recognized from prior police contact regarding narcotics.  A records check revealed that the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant.  He was also in possession of suspect narcotics.  Both the driver and passenger were booked on their respective charges.  Report 110931547

Officers Dominguez and Otaguro were dispatched to a report of an assault.  The officers located the victim who was bleeding from his head.  The victim stated that two suspects approached him, and one spray painted the back of his jacket.  The victim yelled at the suspect, demanding to know why he spray painted his jacket.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s cane that he uses to walk with.  The suspect struck the victim in the head several times in the head with the cane.  The victim fell to the ground and the suspect continued to strike him with the cane.  The suspect also kicked the victim repeatedly.  Both suspects fled.  Report 110931989

Officer Najarro responded to a report of vandalism.  The victim showed the officer a hole in the window of her place of business.  The hole looked as if it could have been caused by a bullet, but there were not witnesses to the incident.  Report 110929348

Officers Morse and McMilton were dispatched to a report of a burglary.  An unknown suspect had smashed the front window of the victim’s business.  The cash register had been stolen.  Report 110932175

8:14am                 Santos & Velasco                   Theft

Officers Curry and Sanchez were dispatched to a report of theft.  The officers were flagged down by the victims.  One of the victims had been carrying a purse when the suspect approached her.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and fled.  The victim chased after the suspect briefly, but lost him in the area.  Report 110929360

CPSA’s Der and Reynolds responded to a report of a burglary.  The victim locked up her place of business the night before, and had returned to begin her day of work.  The victim found that the front door had been forced open and several items were missing from inside.  Report 110929912

10:00am               Faxon & Ocean                      Personation

PSA Flynn took a report regarding false personation.  The victim discovered that there were several thousand dollars missing from his checking account through electronic transfers.  The victim did not authorize the transactions.  Report 110930583

Officers Chew and Lim responded to a report of a robbery.  The two victims were working in their place of business when three suspects entered the store.  One of the suspects had a gun and held the victim’s at gunpoint.  The other two suspects stole merchandise from the store.  All three suspects fled.  Report 110930129

Officer Goldsborough was dispatched to a report of a robbery.  The victim was entering a restaurant carrying her cell phone in her hand.  Two suspects approached the victim.  Both suspects attempted to grab the victim’s phone from her hand, and one was successful.  The suspects fled.  Report 110927342
