SFPD and San Francisco Planning are
working with the operators of the radio tower at the top of Bernal Hill to make
security (e.g. fencing upgrades and cameras) and landscaping improvements. This tower
hosts antennas for both commercial systems as well as those used for
communications by first responders (police and firefighters). The
improvements are currently underway by American Tower. The
lighting will also be adjusted and placed on a motion-sensor.
We would welcome your help in being an extra set
of eyes and ears to discourage vandalism or potential disruption to crucial
police and fire communications. If you see something suspicious, please call
police dispatch at (415) 553-0123 or in an emergency call (415) 553-8090.
If you have questions about
tower itself, please contact the Wireless Planner, Omar Masry, at (415)
575-9116, or Omar.Masry@sfgov.org
Serious Incidents:
4:10pm Mission/Sickles Attempted Robbery
A sixteen year old student and her
mother walked into Ingleside Station to report an attempted robbery. The
student told Ingleside Officer Cattaneo that she was riding a #14 MUNI bus
southbound on Mission Street sitting in a seat near the driver when another
passenger, sitting across from her, tried to get her attention. The young woman
ignored the other passenger’s pleadings until he got up and sat next to her and
tapped her knee. The woman became frightened and called a friend to meet her at
the Geneva and Mission bus stop. The suspect became angry and pulled up his
shirt revealing an automatic pistol, pulled the gun from his waistband, and
placed it against her body, pointing it at her waist and warned her that she
and the person she was talking to on the phone were in danger of being shot.
The young woman pulled the stop cord and hurried off the bus at Geneva and
Mission and the suspect, and an accomplice, stayed on the bus as it pulled
away. Report number: 150924609
8:24pm Arleta/Alpha Weapon
Two men walking home from the bus stop at Arleta and
Bayshore noticed to other men standing across the street in a doorway. The two
victims told Ingleside Officers Kikuchi and Cattaneo that the two men began
following them. Soon thereafter, one of the suspects, now wearing a mask and
holding a semi-automatic weapon, approached and the two victims, fearing for
their lives, ran away to their nearby home. When they reached the front of
their residence, neither suspect was in sight. Report number: 150924803
10:55pm Mission/Geneva Robbery w/knife
Two suspects, a man and a woman, approached the victim,
showed a knife, and demanded his property. The victim told Ingleside Officers
Villalozano and Snadow that he surrendered his debit card, credit card, and
about $120 in cash to the suspects who ran away northbound on Mission Street.
