A Message from the Public Utilities Commission:

“A Call to Conserve Water”

We didn’t get enough rain or snow this winter – plain and simple. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is officially asking all customers to voluntarily reduce water use by 10%.

Conservation is easy; turn off the faucet while brushing teeth or soaping hands; shorten shower time; install water-efficient showerheads and faucet aerators; replace older toilets and clothes washers with new water-efficient models; and, fix leaks.  Please visit sfwater.org/conservation for more information. The SFPUC offers an array of conservation assistance including free water-saving devices, free Water-Wise evaluations for homes, apartment buildings and businesses and rebates for water-efficient toilets and clothes washers.

Everyone needs to do their part to help us stretch our limited Hetch Hetchy Water Supplies. Conserve today and save for tomorrow.

Arrests:

3:48pm       Santos/Brookdale                     Resisting Arrest
Ingleside Sergeant Alvarez and Officers Barajas and Padilla were on routine patrol when they spotted a man on felony probation with a search condition standing with a group of other men. The officers exited their patrol car and walked over to talk to the probationer. When the felon saw the officers he started walking away but stopped at the officer’s request. When asked for identification he gave the officers a fictitious name. When asked to sit down on the ground he, instead, ran away. The officers quickly caught up with him and a violent struggle ensued with the suspect grabbing at Officer Padilla’s firearm and pulling back the hammer of the handgun. Fortunately, the three officers were able to place the suspect under control and into a patrol car. He was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for resisting arrest and other serious charges. Arrests:

10:15am     200 Blk Morse                       Drugs/Burglary
A parent called police worried about her adult son who was acting erratically and possibly on drugs. Ingleside Officers Johnson and Deering responded and went to the son’s room to observe his condition. While en- route to the call the officers conducted a computer check that revealed the son was on active parole for narcotics violations and was a registered sex offender. When the officers entered his room, the son was sweating profusely, not wearing clothes, and his pupils were dilated. The officers asked him to exit the room but instead he hid behind a partition and refused to come out. After asking again for him to exit his room, he refused and instead fled through a back window into the backyard with Officer Deering in pursuit. The man then ran up the back stairs, through the home, and out the front door. The chase continued onto Prague Street where Officer Deering lost sight of the suspect. Several additional Ingleside units responded to the area to continue the search. Soon thereafter, dispatch notified the search team that a prowler was spotted in a home on Curtis Street a little more than a block away. The dispatcher said that two residents of the home were involved in a physical fight with the prowler. The prowler’s description matched the escapee. Officers responded to the home and found the suspect fighting with two male residents in an upstairs bedroom. After a short struggle, the suspect was placed in custody. The residents of the Morse Street home told officers that they were watching the Giants game when they heard a noise in their backyard. The saw a man jump a back fence into their yard and then sprint through an open window into their home. While one female resident called police, two men in the home fought the intruder until police arrived a short time later. The suspect was taken to the county jail and booked on a variety of charges.
