Arrests:

8:26pm       4000 Blk  Mission                   D.U.I
Officers Zerga and Shugars responded to the 4000 block of Mission Street to assist officers Gibbs and Mambretti in a Collision & Possible D.U.I investigation. Upon arrival, the officers noticed that the driver that caused the accident had bloodshot eyes, mumbled when he tried to speak and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breathe. The officers first obtained medical treatment for the injured and intoxicated driver, but he refused to be treated.  The officers then proceeded to conduct a D.U.I investigation, but the intoxicated driver also refused to participate in the Field Sobriety Tests and kept stating, “I’m drunk”. He also said he was drunk when he got into his vehicle to drive home. The officers arrested the driver for driving under the influence and for not having a valid driver’s license. Serious Incidents:

11:00pm     Unit Blk Banks                       Burglary
Officer Rand went to investigate a burglary that took place at a residence located on the Unit block of Banks Street. Officer Rand spoke with the victim, who said sometime during the night, someone broke into the vehicle, which was parked in their driveway, and took their remote garage door opener. The suspect(s) then used the remote garage door opener to open the garage door and gained entry in to the downstairs area. Once inside the garage area, the suspect(s) proceeded to steal three very expensive bicycles. They attempted to steal a fourth bicycle, but ended up leaving it behind. Officer Rand contacted the department’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit to come out and dust for prints. The victim believes the suspects never made past the garage and into the house. Report Number: 130248736
Remember, if you leave your vehicle parked out on the street, do not leave your remote garage door opener inside the car. Take it with you.

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.
Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:
*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.
*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.
*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.
*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.
*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.
* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
