Crime Alert: Precita Park area; There has been numerous incidents where several bicycles have been stolen out of residential garages. Suspect(s) have broken into vehicles parked along the street and have taken the garage door openers and used them to open the owner’s garage to gain access. Once inside, they steal anything of value, including bicycles. You wouldn’t leave the key to your front door in your car, so don’t leave your remote garage door opener in your car either. If you happen to hear your garage door opening, and it wasn’t you, call SF 911 directly.

Crime Alert: Glen Park area; A couple business burglaries in the area have been reported where laptop computers and other expensive electronics have been stolen. Suspects have forced entry or crawled through an open window to steal these items that were left on the front counter and easily seen from the street. When your business is closed, hide these items out of plain site and if possible, locked away. Always make sure your windows and doors are locked and secure before leaving.


Arrests:

8:47am       3500 Blk Mission          Recovered Vehicle
Officer Trujillo and several other Ingleside officers responded to meet with a reportee who stated that a vehicle had been stolen from his neighbor’s home and that he had located the vehicle.  The reportee stated that a suspect had exited the stolen vehicle and was removing items from the trunk.  The officers arrived and detained a male matching the description.  A record check of the vehicle revealed it had been used in a prior burglary.  The officers contacted the investigator handling the matter and the suspect was transported to Park Station for further investigation.  The vehicle was towed to Auto Return with a hold for prints.  All evidence from the vehicle was booked accordingly and/or retained by the inspectors handling the case. 8:03pm       Unit Blk Valmar           Narcotics
Officers Cassinelli, Hom and Campos were on patrol when they spotted a male loitering on the street.  The male was known to them to be on active probation.  They detained the male who confirmed his identity.  A record check confirmed his probationary status and a probation search of his person located a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine as well as a digital scale.  He was transported to Ingleside station where the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.  The suspect was booked for the narcotics and probation violation.  Report Number: 130164784

Serious Incidents:

6:00am       5800 Blk Mission          Robbery

Officers Park and Chang were dispatched to assist the victim of a robbery.  They located the victim who was bleeding from the head and immediately summoned an ambulance.  Several other Ingleside officers proceeded to search the area to no avail for the suspect.  The victim told the officers that he was pumping gas at the gas station when a male suspect approached him, pointed a gun at him and told him to give him his wallet.  The victim was in fear for his safety and had difficulty getting his wallet out of his pockets.  The suspect then hit the victim on top of his head with the gun, grabbed the wallet and fled the scene.  The officers took pictures of the victim’s injuries for evidence and ordered a copy of the video surveillance tape from the owner of the gas station.  The victim was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.  Report Number: 130162114

9:00pm       29^th/Mission                  Robbery

Officers Peregrina and McMilton were dispatched to a robbery call.  They met with the victim who told them that she was walking on Mission Street when and unknown suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her purse.  The victim attempted to hold onto the purse, but the suspect forcibly took it from her and fled down Mission Street.  The victim said she could recognize the suspect and provided a detailed description of him.  The victim was not injured.  Officers canvassed the area searching for the suspect unsuccessfully. 8:30am       Unit Blk Chicago                     Burglary

Officers Gordon and Pereira responded to a report of a home burglary on the unit block of Chicago Way. Multiple Ingleside units were in the area searching for the suspect. Moments later, Officers Baldovino and Nuro detained a suspect matching the description at Rolph and Prague Street.  The victim was not too far behind pointing at the suspect and telling the officers that this was the man who entered her home. The victim said the male suspect entered her home through an open window and took their family dog, named “Buddy”. The suspect then fled the home with the victim following behind and calling the police. Turns out, that the victim knew the suspect and had dated him over a year ago. The dog was returned to the victim and the suspect was transported to Ingleside Station and charged for burglary. Report Number: 130160033

5:06pm       3300 Blk Mission                    Threats
Officer Cortez and Tam responded to a call of a person with a gun on the 3300 block of Mission Street. Several Ingleside Units responded and detained both parties involved and in the course of the investigation found out that there had been a minor car accident which resulted in a verbal argument between both parties. The victim said that during the argument, the suspect went to his vehicle and put on a police gun belt that had a gun in the holster and threatened the victim by saying, “I’m the police, I will put you down”. The victim feared for his safety and believed the suspect wanted to shoot him. As the police were approaching, the suspect took his gun belt off and hid it in the trunk of his car. The officers searched the suspect’s vehicle and found the gun belt and the BB gun that was in the holster. Several witnesses at the scene saw the suspect put the gun belt on and threatened the victim. The suspect was subsequently arrested and transported to Ingleside Station where he was booked for threats and impersonating a police officer. Report Number: 130161241

10:17am     400 Blk Arlington                    Robbery

Officer Morgante went to investigate a report of an auto boost on the 400 block of Arlington Street. He met with a victim and her friend, victim #2, who said they were walking out of her house headed towards her friend’s (victim #2) parked car. As they approached the car, the friend hit her remote entry and they were both surprised to see that the passenger door was already open. An unknown suspect immediately got out of the front passenger seat and said, “Sorry, wrong car”, and started to walk away. As he did so, the friend, victim #2, saw her checkbook in the suspect’s back pocket. The suspect reached out to hand her back the checkbook, but instead grabbed her Iphone out of her hand.  After grabbing the phone he pushed her away. Victim #1 tried to grab the suspect’s clothing, but was pushed away as well. The suspect then ran down the St. Mary’s stairway headed towards San Jose Avenue. Both victims lost sight of the suspect, but said they would be able to identify him if they saw him again. Report Number: 130160243

12:51am     Alemany/Leo                Grand Theft Auto

Officers Cortez and Tam were on routine patrol stopped at a Red light at the intersection of Alemany and Onondaga Avenue. Moments later, they saw a Blue, 4 door, Honda Civic, with three occupants, drive through the intersection as it travelled Northbound on Alemany Boulevard. The officers turned onto Alemany and decided to follow the vehicle, running the Honda’s license plate on the computer. The results revealed that the car was in fact a stolen vehicle. The occupants spotted the officers and immediately pulled over before the officers could effect a traffic stop at Alemany and Leo Street. Officer Tam notified dispatch and requested additional units to the scene. After back-up arrived, all three occupants were taken into custody. The officers searched the vehicle and found a shaved key jammed in the ignition, a common technique used to start Hondas and Acuras. A search was then conducted on all three subjects. During the search, Marijuana was found on one of the passengers. All three subjects were then taken to Ingleside Station and interviewed. The driver was subsequently booked on several charges. The passenger with the Marijuana was cited and released. The third passenger was clear and released as well. The owner of the vehicle was unable to respond to pick up her vehicle; therefore it was towed from the scene. Report Number: 130156559

2:20am       2200 Blk Alemany        Graffiti

Officers Hauscarriague and Sutton were sent to a call where six subjects were seen “tagging” a White commercial truck parked along the 2200 block of Alemany Boulevard. Sergeant Turner and Sergeant Smith were one of the first units to arrive on scene and saw one of the five subjects vandalizing the front bumper with graffiti. Several Ingleside units arrived and detained all five subjects. The officers inspected the White commercial truck and found that it was covered with fresh spray paint. Near the truck, Officers found used spray cans and numerous stickers known as “Slap tags”, which are used to deface public property. All five subjects were eventually searched and the officers found additional spray cans in one of the backpacks that one of them was carrying. After the investigation, one of the subjects was arrested for having an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The second was cited for vandalizing the truck with graffiti and then released. The third was cited for possessing an open container and released. The remaining subjects were released from the scene as well. Report Number: 130156731

4:42pm       Sunnydale/Santos          Grand Theft Auto

Officers Lustenberger and Barajas were on patrol in the area of Sunnydale and Santos Street, when they saw a Black Audi Q5 double parked on the street. As the officers passed the vehicle they could see that there were two occupants inside, a male driver and a female passenger. The officers ran the license plate, which showed the vehicle listed as a stolen vehicle. By the time the officers turned around, the vehicle had taken off from the area. The officers broadcast the vehicle description and searched the area. Moments later, dispatch received a call from a resident along the 300 block of Prague stating two subjects just dumped a Black Audi on the street and ran into Crocker Amazon Park. Several Ingleside units responded and scoured the park and surrounding area. Officer Lustenberger and Barajas found the same two subjects walking along Geneva Avenue. The suspects were then detained and searched. The male suspect still had the Audi car key in his pocket. The male driver was transported to Ingleside Station and booked on numerous felony charges. The female passenger was soon released. Report Number: 130158094

Arrests:

1:53am       500 Blk  Ocean             Burglary
Officers Lozano and Hauscarriague were dispatched to the MUNI garage after a witness saw a man breaking into a car.  The witness, trailing the suspect while calling 911, told dispatch that the suspect was carrying one Brown and one Red bag, while walking on a nearby street. Officers soon arrived at the scene and located the suspect. Meanwhile, other officers interviewed the victim at the garage who listed several items stolen from his car that were found on the suspect. The suspect was taken to Ingleside Station and booked for burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Report number: 130153511


10:12pm     400 Blk  Huron              Drugs
Officers Cassinelli and Turner were on patrol when they spotted an older van moving slowly down the street with the driver looking into cars and homes. The driver stopped and parked the van on the 400 block of Huron and the officers got out of their patrol car and approached the vehicle to question the occupant. While speaking to the driver, the officers noticed a glass pipe with white residue in the front ashtray. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and a search found narcotics in one of the suspect’s pockets. The suspect, who had a previous conviction in San Mateo County, was cited for narcotics violations and released. Report number: 130156208

12:56am     Brazil/Naples                Attempted Robbery

Ingleside Officers Anderson and Contreras were on routine patrol when dispatch broadcast a description of a vehicle wanted in a robbery. During an unsuccessful search for the vehicle, two men flagged down the officers and said they were approached separately by a man with a gun who demanded their valuables. Both victims refused and ran away. They described the same suspect who was traveling in a dark Blue sedan. Report number: 130153436

1:00am       Russia/Madrid               Robbery

Officers Lockett, responding to a robbery report, found a victim at the intersection of Russia and Madrid bleeding from a wound on the back of his head. The man told the officers he was walking up the sidewalk when he noticed a late model Lexus make a U-Turn and stop near him. A man got out of the car, pointed a gun at him, and said, “Give me your wallet”. Fearing for his life he complied but, after taking the wallet, the suspect hit the victim on the back of the head with the gun. The suspect then got back in the car and sped away. Medics treated the victim at the scene for his injury and the officers gave him a courtesy ride home. Report number: 130153442

1:05am       Brazil/Madrid               Robbery

Officer Sutton was dispatched to the 400 block of Vienna Street to take a robbery report. The victim told the officer he had just taken out over $900 from an ATM machine on Mission Street and was walking home when a suspect with a gun approached him from behind and said, “Give me all your money or I’ll shoot you”. The victim, fearing for his life, complied and the suspect ran back to a waiting compact car, with two occupants, and jumped in before driving away. Report number: 130153470

Due to the time of day and close proximity, it is believed that the robberies that took place in the Excelsior District are related, See reports above. Police have increased patrols in this area and are vigilant of any suspicious activity. If there is any additional information regarding these robberies, please call Ingleside to speak with an Inspector. If you see any suspicious people or vehicles in the area call SF 911 directly.

8:55am       Unit Blk Desmond        Robbery

Officers Trujillo and Zerga were on routine patrol when they were sent to the unit block of Desmond to investigate a purse snatch. The officers found the victim sitting on stairs of her home saying she was unable to stand because of injuries to her back and left arm. The officers called for medical assistance while talking to the victim who said she was walking home from the bus stop when a man approached her from behind, violently grabbed her shoulders and threw her to the ground on her back. The suspect took her cell phone before running away. Numerous Ingleside officers unsuccessfully searched the area for the suspect. Report number:130153997

CRIME ALERT: Increase in recent trend of robberies and thefts in and around the Balboa BART Station and City College area,

Be vigilant of suspicious vehicles pulling up and its occupants asking for directions and/or to use your phone and then fleeing the scene with your property.

Arrests:

2:15am       Mission/Brazil               Drugs
Sgt. Smith was on routine patrol when he observed a bicyclist riding onto oncoming traffic while on Mission Street.  He affected a traffic stop and a record check revealed the bicyclist to be on active probation.  A probation search was conducted and Sgt Smith located methamphetamine in one of the suspect’s pockets.  The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Ingleside Station.  The substance tested positive for methamphetamine and the suspect was booked accordingly.  Report Number 130150357.


3:32pm       Unit Blk Leland            Fraud
Officers Ng and Tillan were dispatched to a bank regarding someone attempting to cash a bad check.  They met with the reportee (teller) who pointed out the suspect and the officers detained her.  The teller contacted the owner of the check, who said he never wrote out a check for that person.  The reportee signed a citizen’s arrest and the suspect was placed under arrest.  A records check also revealed the suspect had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was transported to Ingleside station where she was booked for fraud and the warrant.  All evidence was booked at Ingleside station.  Report Number 130151929

Serious Incidents:

1:15pm       1600 Blk Valencia        Assault

Officers Campos and Suguitan responded to a battery call on the 1600 block of Valencia Street.  They located the victim who complained he had pain to his jaw as a result of the attack, but refused any medical assistance.  He told the officers that he was approached by an unknown male who began accusing him of random acts and then proceeded to punch and kick him repeatedly.  The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.  The victim was unsure if he could recognize the suspect and the officers searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspect.  The officers viewed the establishment’s video surveillance tape, but it did not capture the assault.

10:15pm     400 Blk Persia               Robbery

A woman walked into Ingleside Station telling Officer Pubill that she was a victim of a robbery. The victim said at approximately 10:30 at night she exited a MUNI bus at Persia and Madrid Street and began walking home. The victim said she heard someone running up behind her so she held onto her purse a little tighter as it hung from her shoulder. When the unknown suspect ran past her, he grabbed her purse. The victim tried to retain possession of her purse, but was overpowered and was thrown to the ground. The suspect ran off with her purse and headed to a parked car. The victim got up and tried to go after the suspect but it was too late. The suspect had driven away from the area.  The victim was able to flag down Sgt Smith who happened to be driving by after the incident occurred. Sgt Smith broadcast the suspect and vehicle description and proceeded to search the area. He then returned but the victim had gone home and didn’t wait for police to return. The victim went to the police station to make a report. Report Number: 130162788

CRIME ALERT:  There has been an increase in auto boostings around Precita Park and the surrounding area.  Don’t be a Victim.

Take extra precautions to avoid a criminal window-shopping inside your car. Never give them a reason to break into your car and steal your belongings.

                                                          Safety Tips:

*Try to park in a well- lit area and always lock your doors and secure your windows.

*Do not leave possessions on the seat or in plain view.

*Never hide belongings under the seat: This is the first place burglars check.

*Never cover expensive items with an article of clothing or blanket:  This presents a hidden clue to thieves that items may be underneath.

*Do not leave any important documents inside your car that contain your personal information.

* Do not leave phone or MP3 chargers plugged in: this leads the burglar to believe there are expensive electronics inside your car.

Remember, if a criminal is unsuccessful and is not benefitting from his criminal activity, the thief will move on, thus making your neighborhood less of a target.
