1:30pm       100 Blk. Bonview                   Suspicious Occurrence
A woman called dispatch to report a suspicious person trying to take money from her bank account. The victim told Ingleside Officers Vong and Langley that she received a phone call from a man who claimed to be a police captain. The man said that he was going to write a warrant for her arrest unless she withdrew approximately $2000 from her bank and give it to him. She hung up the phone. He then called two days later and told her to withdraw that amount, buy a money pack, and drive to City Hall to hand him the funds. The victim went to the bank and withdrew the funds then went to a store to buy the money pack, all the while keeping the suspect on the phone. Fortunately, the store clerk told the woman victim that this was a scam and many other people have been scammed the same way. The clerk picked up the phone to talk to the suspect but, upon hearing her voice, he hung up. Officers Vong and Langley accompanied the victim back to her bank to redeposit her funds. Within a short time of this occurrence, the woman received two suspicious fraud alerts on her bank account.      SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT TAKING BACK UNWANTED
                                           PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

On October 22, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the San Francisco Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to any San Francisco Police Department District Station. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

Arrests:

12:36pm     100 Blk Bache                        Recovered Vehicle
A citizen called police about a suspicious activity. He came home and noticed two people spray painting an older Honda on the street near his home. Ingleside Officers Ocreto and Neuerburg responded and parked behind the now blue Honda. As they approached the vehicle, the Honda suddenly sped away leaving one of the suspects standing in the street. He was immediately placed in custody. During a search of his clothing the officers discovered a knife like weapon along with shaved keys used to steal vehicles. A short time later, Ingleside Officer Baldovino found the Honda at Ellert and Bocana Streets. It had been reported stolen earlier from an address in the Taraval District. Witnesses said a young woman fled from the vehicle and ran into Holly Park where she was captured a short time later. The same witnesses positively identified both suspects as the pair who were painting the stolen Honda. A search of the woman’s clothing turned up a quantity of methamphetamine. She was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Both suspects were transported to Ingleside Station and booked for vehicle theft and other crimes. Report number: 160840283

Serious Incidents:

The officers found no evidence but, they did find a witness who told the officers that shortly before their arrival her boyfriend was out at the curb by his car when her ex-boyfriend drove up. An argument ensued and the ex-boyfriend took out a weapon and shot several times at the fleeing current boyfriend. Fortunately, no one was struck by the flying bullets. Report number: 160840532

Within seconds, the four suspects began firing at the fleeing vehicle causing her to crash into a parked car. The victim and a friend fled toward Sunnydale Avenue and called police.

Arrests:

2:18am       200 Blk Geneva                               D.U.I
A traffic collision revealed evidence of a serious crime. Ingleside Officers Toomey, Landis, and George were dispatched to a collision involving a newer Honda Civic and another SFPD unit with Ingleside Officers Ortega and Ragusa. The other vehicle was driven by a man who admitted to having consumed a significant amount of alcohol prior to the collision. The officers found several open bottles of alcoholic beverages scattered around the vehicles interior. His female passenger had a long arrest record for several serious crimes. However, what most interested the officers was a large amount of live and spent.380 ammunition in the vehicle. A few hours earlier, Mission District officers investigated a shooting involving the same caliber of weapon. The officers decided to tow the vehicle to impound and held for additional investigation. The driver was cited and released pending additional investigation and his passenger was released at the scene. Report number: 160827736

6:10pm       50 Phelan Ave.                                Narcotics
The report of a man throwing items around in the locker room prompted dispatch to send San Francisco Community College Officers Flood and Victorino. When the officers arrived they found the suspect standing near an open suitcase with various items including a bolt cutter, hammer, screwdriver, and spark plug attached to a shoelace, lying on the floor. Realizing that these items are sometimes used for car burglaries, the officers placed the suspect in handcuffs. A search of his clothing revealed a hypodermic needle and a small plastic bag containing methamphetamine. While the officers were on their way back to their station a call came in that their suspect’s companion was on his way to the college’s Wellness Center. Community College Officer Palacios travelled to the Wellness Center and located the suspect who had in his possession weapons and a quantity of methamphetamine and PCP. He was placed in handcuffs and transported to the College police station. Report number: 160830068

Serious Incidents:

8:15am       800 Blk Ellsworth                           Shooting
The sound of gunshots prompted dispatch to send Ingleside Officers Morrow and Thompson to investigate. When they arrived on scene they found numerous .40cal shell casings lying on the ground and a bullet hole in the window of a nearby residence. A witness told the officers that she heard yelling outside her home and then, a short time later, five gunshots. The officers canvassed the area and found no other witnesses or any gunshot victims.
